Do you want peace of mind while you are away? We’ll take excellent care of your beloved pets, home, property, Airbnbs and other rental properties – our references agree!
We are a responsible, mature, physically fit, married (non-smoking, no drugs) couple. We are quiet and enjoy being homebodies, taking walks, and gardening. We have extensive pet/animal (small to larger), home, property, and gardens caretaking experience. We understand you are entrusting us not only with your pets and home, but with your investment -- we'll make sure you are happy when you return home!
Leo has over 30 years’ experience of home ownership and maintenance, along with the raising and care of a variety of beloved pets. Leo has experience in heating, air-conditioning, refrigeration, pool & hot tub and pond & fountain maintenance, and the solar trades (think plumbing and electrical troubleshooting and repair), along with extensive project, contract, contractor, human resource, and customer service management experience.
Richelle has experience in the raising and care of various farm animals and deeply loved pets, and caretaking experience including that of homeownership and as a landlord. Richelle is a certified Permaculture Designer and Teacher -- studied and practiced in urban and rural, desert and jungle, ornamental, vegetable and fruit gardening and small-scale farming.
We have taken care of cats who are young and energetic, to aged and infirmed; dogs who are young and strong, to older and needing special care. There have been pets needing to see a vet on multiple occasions, to those needing pee-pads, special diets and medications – see our photos for some of our “furry friends!”
Together we make a perfect team to provide loving attention to your pets, and thoughtful care for your home, garden and property maintenance and management needs!
We approach each home sitting opportunity with a sensitivity toward and respect for the pets we are entrusted with, your neighbors, the environment and local cultures. Excellent Pet and House Sitters - Exceeded Expectations - Highly Recommend!
We have a beautiful custom home with a young and energetic “rescue” cat located in the mostly humid mountains of Panama. Leo & Richelle were our home and cat “surrogates” for three and a half months, spanning both the dry/windy and wet seasons. During our time away they did a great job communicating with me and my partner about our cat (including lots of photos) and various garden and home maintenance/repair issues that came up. Upon our return home, and seeing things first hand, we could not be happier with the overall state of our home and our happy and healthy cat – they were the best sitters we’ve ever! We recommend with full confidence Leo & Richelle as home and pet sitters, and hope they will be available for us the next time we need a sitter! It’s important to note that both at the beginning and end of the house sit Leo & Richelle showed incredible commitment and flexibility around the start and end dates. Also, our listing made it clear that our expectations were high, from being present for our cat and for security reasons, to being proactive on any maintenance issues that might arise and keeping the vegetable garden in a productive state. The list below include highlights and some of the things that came up and were skillfully dealt with during our absence: Our cat needed to be taken to the vet several times, for annual vaccines and for a serious ear mite condition that arose, which included daily ear cleaning and medications at home for two weeks, plus a follow-up vet visit - Organic veggie garden care, maintenance, soil building, new plantings, etc. - Inside and patio potted plant watering, fertilizing, pruning - Engage with, oversee and pay twice per week our Spanish speaking gardener - Pond and fountain maintenance, including discharge hose repairs found to be leaking - Identified problem and painted portion of an exterior wall and metal doors showing rust - Took initiative to pressure wash algae from multiple patios - Replaced ignition batteries in in-line water heater - Found and repaired a serious garden PVC water line leak - Cleaned up outside storage are and dealt with ponding water, termites and ants - Kept the house clean and neat (with an understanding of humidity and insect issues) - Purchase of: supplies for gardener; propane for home and arranged for delivery; and, annual garbage pickup tag from local municipality after the original was found missing - Troubleshooting of problem to determine the need to purchase a new refrigerator, covering the purchase of new refrigerator after communicating all necessary details, installation of the new refrigerator, and cleaning the old refrigerator for future repair - Picked up our second car from a repair shop, picked up and installed new license plate and tags, and had use of the car when needed - Engaged with multiple instructions, videos and spreadsheets of daily, weekly, monthly and tri-monthly tasks, and expenses reports. In closing, Leo & Richelle exceeded our expectations in every way – you will be happy selecting them as your next home and pet sitter! Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
