We're Reston and Robbie…an American couple with old souls who, together, make a great team. :)

We were lucky to find each other 2 years ago and every day since has been driven by passion and adventure, fueling us to stay true to that spirit.

We are experienced international travelers and have taken care of houses, pets, and gardens in states and provinces across the globe.

We are looking for unique or cozy places to hunker-down and work on our websites, businesses, and art. We're not afraid of remote and unusual places but would certainly need Wi-Fi.

After spending several years in the corporate "rat race", we have decided it is time to follow our dreams, and we're excited about all the adventures that this new chapter will bring...
In light of the current circumstances, we are cautiously optimistic, and are excited to be traveling again.
Given the threat of COVID-19, we will be limiting outside travel/contact and will be extremely responsible.

We work hard, study hard, and play hard.
Life is just too short to take any of it for granted.

We are both college-educated corporate professionals (and digital professionals) who are lucky enough to be able to work remotely.

Because we work for ourselves, we are location independent and thereby, have extremely flexible schedules.
We both speak English and some beginner-intermediate Spanish.

In our free time we love:
Listening to podcasts, sunny days, playing cards and boardgames, long talks, Mediterranean food, spending time with friends and family, and exploring unfamiliar locations while meeting new people because it often inspires ideas! Oftentimes, you can find us curled up with an open book or watching something simmer on the stove.

We consider house-sitting an exercise in living well and helping others.
We feel like being in someone's home gives us the opportunity to have a more connected experience, explore new places and cultures, and get the most out of this precious life on Earth.

We love the simple adventure of living in a new place, experiencing a new horizon, and learning about the local area. We really embrace the lifestyle of travel and staying in warm, welcoming, lived-in homes - especially when they come with adorable, loving pets.

The benefits of being in a place that someone cares about and lives in really makes a stay feel special for us.

We like to make each trip away as seamless and hassle free as possible for the owners (and pets), and we will do all that we can towards that end for you.

In this phase of our life, we do not want to live a conventional 9 to 5 life, and we have made the decision to take an alternative path.
Because of this, we think MindMyHouse can combine our digital nomad life with our passion for travel and other cultures.

Our desire to have pets is only tempered by our love for an adventurous/travel filled life. Pet sitting while having the opportunity to visit/explore different locales, satisfies and marries the two desires perfectly together.

We have everything that makes us happy... A simple life, with minimal “stuff”, so as long as we are together, we are home.

ANIMAL CARE:

Experienced in caring for dogs, cats, horses, cows, lambs, llamas, goats, rabbits, sheep, chickens, turkeys, parrots, cockatiels, several fish & reptiles (including rescues, geriatric, and sick animals).

We're loving and gentle with pets, patient, kind, warm and calm in voice and demeanor (very good with shy and elderly pets also, who, sensing our genuine care, warm up quickly).

Ready and willing to give extra care and attention or any medication if needed.
We are very conscious and alert to any subtle changes or needs in your pet while you're away.

We will go the extra mile to ensure their health, happiness and well-being and communicate with you throughout and quickly, should any needs or concerns arise.

We truly enjoy caring for and being in the presence of animals, and we like to immerse ourselves in nature as well, so we are very happy to have dog companions to walk with!

We are sought-after house sitters among our friends and neighbors, and when they have left their pets with us, we have been more than happy to have their company, take them on walks, play and give them lots of love.

As pet owners ourselves, we understand the importance of leaving these precious creatures in somebody else’s hands and pride ourselves on looking after homes and pets as if they are our own.

HOME CARE:

Do you own a large estate with gardens or a rental property with guests to look after?

We're experienced in property management, customer service, (handling AirBnB guests) and are used to working with people from all over the world and managing staff from cleaning people and gardeners to contractors in addition to hosting prospective buyers for properties.

We excel at keeping a keen eye on the property no matter the conditions-- whether in the middle of monsoon rains in a crowded city in India or during the dry season in an isolated cabin in rural Guatemala.

ESTATE, GARDEN & GUEST CARE:

We are genuinely interested in caring for a property that was a family estate with history and work to be done.

We have strong passion for horticulture and are skilled at maintaining, beautifying and restoring gardens of all shapes and sizes and can be handy with a chainsaw or a lawnmower.

We are avid gardening enthusiasts with green thumbs (having spent many years nurturing plants in our lush garden oasis/backyard), so your vegetables, herbs, and plants are in good hands.

We are both handy and have knowledge of plumbing, irrigation, pool maintenance and upkeep, and basic carpentry skills.

What can they bring to the assignment

We bring a positive spirit and energy to your home and animals while providing you with peace of mind to enjoy your travels.

The security, upkeep of your home, and well-being of your pets is our priority, and we will follow your instructions to the letter.

We are open to traveling absolutely anywhere in the world, and we are able to entertain ourselves for days on end with a simple connection to Wi-Fi and good books to read.

We are conversational people and tend to make friends wherever we go, but we prefer to be at home together, alone, and in bed early and wake at sunrise daily, to read and bird-watch while enjoying a nice cup of coffee!

We work for ourselves (so around more for safety and animal care).

We can cope well in an emergency and are perceptive, creative-problem solvers, who think quickly on our feet.

We are tech savvy and can communicate and share in various ways, and also possess handyman/woman skills, and the knowledge of first aid.

As a resident in your home, we bring a steady routine to garden or pet care.

We both have excellent driving records, credit reports and house-sitting references.

Also, we're happy to come a few days before or stay a few days after if you'd like to visit and get to know us.

We'll do whatever we can to put your mind at ease and value open communication in order to help you travel without concern – including sending photos / videos, having email chats or Skype conversations.
Or, just letting you vacation and/or travel without concern, knowing we'll contact you should an emergency arise.
