About this sitter
We’re in a stable, long-lasting relationship. Both of us are keen birders and like hiking. We have done 40+ housesits (that's 1100+ days) since May 2021. And not only for MindMyHouse. We get many sits through word to mouth as well. For the past year we stayed mainly in the Netherlands, but we also consider the rest of Europe for housesits. By 2026 we accept housesits worldwide again. In the reviews of previous sits you'll read that we're good communicators, thoughtful and keeping the house clean.
Why they want to house sit
We have always cared for pets, even before we became full-time housesitters. We like to cuddle and be around pets. We also like the change of environment partly because we are restless souls and because we're birdwatchers (looking for new species). We adjust quickly to new cultures in a rural, urban and and even remote places. We have done housesits in Costa Rica, Panama, Spain, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.
Their experience
We're in our 44th housesit (by Aug., '25). That's 1200+ days. During those days we took care of countless pets, among them mostly cats, birds, a few dogs and many fish. We do gardens and pot plants. We have saved the lives of ill dogs, provided medication to cats with chronical diseases, even offered complicated care.

We take responsibility and never canceled an agreement. We provide you with regular updates on your pet and your house. Leonie en Rick van harte aan
Rick en Leonie hebben ruim vier weken op ons huis en onze kat Lodewijk gepast. Dat hebben zij met maximale inzet, grote zorg en veel liefde gedaan. Halverwege de periode hebben ze zelfs een logeerkat opgenomen en ook daar met liefde en aandacht voor gezorgd. Alles zag er spic en span uit toen we thuiskwamen, dus ik beveel Leonie en Rick van harte aan!

Voor mij was het de eerste keer dat ik via deze site gebruik heb gemaakt van oppas voor mijn 2 katten in huis. Hoewel ik het best wel spannend vond om aan mensen die ik niet kende de sleutel van mijn huis en de zorg voor mijn katten over te dragen kan ik niet anders zeggen dat ik heel blij ben met mijn keuze. Leonie en Rick hebben het geweldig en zo zorgvuldig gedaan, in alle opzichten. Hierdoor kon ik met een gerust hart een paar weken naar het buitenland. Van begin tot het eind is het prima verlopen. Léonie en Rick, hartstikke bedankt
Léonie en Rick hebben van november tot december vier weken voor onze drie katten gezorgd en daarvoor aansluitend een week op de katten van mijn oom en tante. Wij hebben allemaal niets dan lof voor Léonie en Rick. Aan alles merk je dat ze oog hebben voor de katten en zo veel meer doen dan voeren en af en toe een aai. Bijna dagelijks kregen wij foto’s en updates. Het was een foto van een kussentje dat geplaatst was in de vensterbank zodat onze kat Pebbles nóg prettiger van de zon kon genieten die voor ons overduidelijk maakte hoe sterk het oog voor onze katten was. Tijdens onze vakantie had een van onze katten dierenarts zorg nodig. Ook dat signaleren Léonie en Rick, ze stemmen af, ze pakken het op, en ze houden je op de hoogte. Wij zijn nog nooit zo zorgeloos op vakantie geweest. Met Léonie en Rick weet je zeker dat je huisdieren supergoede verzorging en aandacht krijgen. Daarnaast zijn het ook nog eens superlieve en betrokken mensen die regelmatig vragen hoe je het hebt op vakantie. Ze zijn zelf bijna overal ter wereld geweest en hadden goede adviezen en leuke tips voor ons tijdens onze reis door Thailand. Léonie en Rick, hartstikke bedankt en hopelijk willen jullie onze eerstvolgende vakantie weer oppassen, maar dan in het nieuwe huis!❤️

Zeker een aanrader
Leonie en Rick hebben ruim twee weken op mijn katten, planten en appartement gepast tijdens mijn vakantie. Voorafgaand een fijne kennismaking en tijdens mijn afwezigheid kreeg ik updates en foto’s, dat was heel fijn! Bij terugkomst was het appartement netjes en de katten blij. Zeker een aanrader.

Ik zou ze zo weer terugvragen om op te passen

Leonie en Rick hebben 2 weken op Sammy onze poes gepast. Zijn heel blij en Sammy voelde zich vanaf de 1e dag al meteen vertrouwd met hun. Wij kregen via de app regelmatig foto’s en berichtjes hoe het met Sammy ging. Ons huis zag er bij thuiskomst netjes uit. Rick & Leonie were amazing sitters
Rick & Leonie were amazing sitters with our cats. They kept us up to date and well informed, and we never felt worried for a second. We regularly received a nice update with a photo and wit every interaction it was clear they had our cats' wellbeing in mind. We arrived home to a nice cup of tea and received a very thoughtful and detailed hand-over from them. We would love for them to stay in our home again, and our cats will be most happy to have them as sitters in future!

Rick and Leonie were wonderful. They took great care of our two cats, especially Aziraphale who was having trouble with his digestion during their stay. Our home was tidy and clean when we came back. And they even left a welcome home gift! Would gladly have them back any time.

Comforting and safe
Rick and Leonie are wonderful house sitters. They have taken excellent care of our cat Isa and the fish in the backyard. Rick and Leonie house sat in the middle of backyard renovations, so there was some mess there, and they dealt with it very nicely, bringing ideas on how to solve some messes. They kept in regular contact and also sending funny pictures of Isa. Back on arrival the house was tidy and everything still operating. We had a debrief (they also provided 2 pages of debrief notes, super nice!) and key swap, and then they were on their way. Thank you for the beautiful flowers and lovely card. If ever you would like to house sit in Helmond again, you are very welcome here!

The best choice we could have made
The best choice we could have made is leaving the care of our sweet cats in the hands of Rick&Leonie. They kept us posted sending nice pics and updates. The cats loved them that was clear! Our house was nice and clean when we returned with an inviting fresh bed! Rick & Leoni appeared real lifesavers when our original flight home got cancelled by 2 extra days! Thanks very much, they were the best! Thanks Rick & Leoni, for taking such good care of our cats and home!

Words cannot describe or express our gratitude for the the care and support Rick and Lenore gave us during their caring for Hardy and our house. Fantastic House Sitters and People
Léonie and Rick were our very first house sitters and wow, were we lucky! They went way above and beyond what was expected while staying in our home for over a month. They took excellent care of our cat, Hercules, and sent us regular photos and updates. We were able to completely relax on our vacation and know that our cat and home were in capable and caring hands. They also took excellent care of our garden and houseplants and left us some delicious harvested tomatoes and chestnuts. When we got home, we breathed the same sigh of relief to be home as we did to go on vacation. They left the house spotless and organized and it felt like our cozy house when we came in. Any and all issues that had come up during their stay (we have quite an old and finicky house) they had resolved independently. They are very self-sufficient and easygoing. We only had a day with them before we left and a day when we came back, but we wished to have had more time, as they are really lovely people and super interesting to talk with. We are so grateful to Léonie and Rick and would recommend them to any homeowner for any house-sitting situation. Needless to say, they are welcome back to our house any time, whether it be as guests or house sitters.

Lovely relaxed couple with positive communication
First experience with cat and house sitter and Rick & Leonie didnt disappoint! Lovely relaxed couple with positive communication and clearly a great understanding of what I needed from them in order to relax and recharge my batteries. It was easy for me to achieve this knowing Splodge was not only well looked after, fed and medicated but also relaxed and enjoying their company too. Coming home to a sparkling clean house was the icing on the cake, thank you both for your experience and help with both Splodges health and my peace of mind 💕

Rick and Léonie are a very friendly, self-sufficient couple, and were amazing at looking after our two cats, home and plants. Communication was great right from the start, when we had a video call with them, and the minute we met Rick we felt completely reassured to go on holiday without worrying one bit about our cats or home. We loved getting regular updates with pictures of the cats being happy and getting plenty of attention. We would definitely have them stay again, and 100% recommend them for a house and pet sit!

I can't thank them enough
We had the great pleasure of having Rick and Leonie take care of dog and home for a month. One of our biggest concerns with our older dog (Brassy) is her health, and we left feeling totally confident that both Rick and Leonie could handle any situation that would arise. The peace of mind that gave us was immense and I can't thank them enough for their care of 'Brassy'. They had a few more 'house issues' that needed to be monitored and they were great about keeping us updated on repairs being done. They made sure we had photos of Brassy's days on a regular basis and we enjoyed that. They also quickly learned how to step over her while cooking in the kitchen! I think these two people have exactly the right temperament and have had the life experiences that make them qualified to handle any situation and the confidence to make decisions on an owners behalf if the need arose. We would have them back any time and definitely recommend them to other pet owners.

Rick and Leonie are everything you could ask for
Rick and Leonie are everything you could ask for in a petsitting/house sitting couple. Knowing that they were in our home and looking after our furry friends, allowed us to enjoy a three week much needed, long awaited trip without any worries at all. They really are a dynamic duo!!! They were willing and able to come a day early because we had to leave at 4 am for our flight. They stayed an extra night because our flight back arrived so late. They kept in contact with photos and updates regularly. They took care of all our plants. They kept the place immaculate, when we returned home our the place looked exactly how we left it. The cats seemed to barely notice we had gone! Rick and Leonie's background in nursing allowed them to care for and check for dehydration in our one cat and they weren't at all phased by the cat hairballs. They kept the two litter boxes exceptionally clean. The thing that impressed us most about Rick and Leonie was how self sufficient and proactive they are regarding matters around the house and neighborhood. They managed the public transport system without any help from us. They fixed our hot water temperature in our apartment!!! We really cannot recommend these two wonderful people enough. They are kind, thoughtful and just really interesting, well traveled people.
