About this sitter
I am a 62 year old fit and active ex-professional. My wife and I have lived all over the world. The children are grown up and my wife is still working. I am looking to keep myself busy, but not stay in one place. I quite like the idea of helping people out, whilst seeing another part of the world, but not as a tourist. I speak French and German reasonably well (and some Russian). I have always had dogs and good with them. Other experience with goats, cats, chickens, guinea pigs and fish. Less experienced with other pets/animals, but happy to learn.
Why they want to house sit
I have the idea of buying my own place in Europe (France, Portugal etc), but want to explore a bit more. House sitting seems a way to have the opportunity to see other places with a different perspective from the usual tourist.
Their experience
I have done house sitting in France a couple of times - a large property with 2 dogs, 2 cats, 4 goats and 7 chickens. I also did various odd jobs and helped out on a nearby eco-farm with goats and alpacas. Besides that I have 30 years' experience in a high pressure work environment in developed and developing countries; and as a father of 2 kids and various pets. I am computer-savvy and can drive on both sides of the road! I can provide any references required from my professional life, as well as as a house sitter.
What can they bring to the assignment
I am a practical and easy going guy and have put myself in all sorts of challenging positions over the years and come out the other side still smiling. I would bring my professionalism to the job, whatever you needed me to do. I am as comfortable walking and looking after the dog, as cutting the grass, doing the garden, managing the plumber or presenting to the board of directors! I have lived in some of the great cities of the world, but also had a base in a rural community in the UK for many years. I am very happy in different environments.

Andrew had four horses, two fish and a dog to care for, plus my pot plants and veg. He had readily agreed to arrive a bit earlier than our leaving date so that I could offer a thorough briefing and familiarisation with the varied requirements of the sit - and he took it all completely in his stride. I was so thankful to know that my beloved animals were in safe and caring hands. He and his friend John were good company for those couple of days and their use of the house was clean and respectful. They even helped install some horse fencing for me - I was so grateful for that help! His little whippet Loki is a delightful, gentle and easy dog and my girl was happy to have a friend to play with while we were away. All round a kind, conscientious and helpful sitter who I would thoroughly recommend.

Wonderful, reliable house sitter.
Andrew and his gorgeous whippet Loki came and stayed at Mas Sarrat for 10 days this autumn (2024). They were totally thrown in at the deep end, joining a local community outing 10 minutes after their arrival. Sociable and fun, I knew they would have no problem fitting in with the locals, As far as the animals were concerned, they were all looked after beautifully, Asti was so happy and got along very well with Loki, goats, hens and cats were all in good form when I returned. Andrew kept in touch, responded to messages and left the house immaculate. A huge thank you and I can't recommend Andrew and Loki highly enough.
