About this sitter
I am a "countryboy", having lived in a city so I know the best of both worlds, having a strong tendency towards the country life the older I get.
Early retired, aged 61, non-smoking, still working remote (freelance) as a lecturer a few weeks per year.
I always love(d) travelling and do so extensively, speak German (native), English, French and Spanish.
Have and can use my own car. I'm good at IT and housekeeping (living by myself in my own timber house), had my own cat and do well with any pets.
I'm looking for an opportunity to get to know a neighborhood and culture for a longer period, maybe even looking for a new home in the long run.

Michael came ahead of the required pet-sitting period to meet us and Arthur and have an overlap to learn about the house and vicinity. He’s clearly a responsible and reliable house and pet sitter and we had no concerns about leaving Arthur in his care. He kept in touch (- not easy because WE had WiFi problems while away) and all went well. Arthur was well and happy on our return. We enjoyed meeting Michael and his girlfriend Zena who came for part of his stay. They can come back to sit for us any time!

Everything went smoothly with good communications at all stages. It was good to meet Michael before I left for my trip so the overlap worked well. Cat does not eat well when I go away but Michael persevered in working out best food to offer. Think the sit worked for us all.

Excellent sitter
Mike was very friendly and quickly fitted in to our cats routine. They both loved him including our shy cat. He kept the house very clean and tidy, and even watered our plants. Mike got on well with our neighbours and people in our local village. I would be very happy for him to sit for us again.

Fine Time for cats
Michael looked after our house and the cats for nearly three weeks. He is very relaxed, interested in the place and looked after everything beautifully. We'll probably have him again when he's free.

We left the house in good hands and the cat now speaks german!
I was a bit concerned that Mike would find the house too isolated as he was on his own but he seemed to appreciate the tranquility of the place. Sandy (our cat) took to him immediately. Mike was on always reachable and ready to deal with parcels and sort out unpaid bills. We came home to flowers on the table and the house looking exactly the same as when we left - much appreciated! Mike is a discreet music lover, very easy-going, who I can thoroughly recommend.
