My husband Wayne and I are retired professionals and have been married for over 40 years. I am both French and British and Wayne has both New Zealand and British nationalities. We have lived in London for about 40 years and have two children in their 30s: our son Scott lives in Melbourne Australia, and our daughter Nina lives in Windhoek, Namibia.
We are based in London, with a house in France where we spend part of the summer and a car for each country. We both have clean driving licences (two in my own case, UK and French), and are non smokers and fit, great travellers having to keep in touch with family and friends in various parts of the world. So we are both house owners and house sitters. We have used house sitters for years, most being delightful people with whom we have kept in touch.
Our main hobbies are varied including sport, opera, gardening, art and museum exhibitions, country walks, visiting cities or wild places around the world. We are standing members of the Royal Horticultural Society and of the National Trust. We do charity work in France and UK. Wayne volunteers for a Wimbledon charity providing meals for homeless people, and I am chairman of a heritage fruit conservation association. We are also very keen gardeners, having had several gardens in our life: including ornamental, allotments, potagers, and orchards. Therefore we are also interested in “cuisine”, having a lot of our own fruit and vegetables to eat and process. We are happy to do some gardening if required (weather permitting).
We like to travel, experience different things in life, meet “real” people with different cultures in cities or in the countryside. Housesitting is a far more interesting way of discovering new places than hotels, and we enjoy the privacy, independence and comfort of having a temporary “home”, and enjoy the company of the household pets. But we also like to join in and take part in local community events.
We would love to look after your house and garden as if it was our own temporary home. We love animals, their various personalities, and are happy looking after them.
The Covid has unfortunately put a stop to our travels. In March 2020 we were suddenly rapatriated from Namibia, and this Christmas again our plan and tickets have to be postponed due to the new variant. So we are hoping to fill up the time by doing something interesting and useful, like visiting new area and helping others with housesitting.
We have a lot of experience of housesitters as home owners, and from 2018 year we had wonderful experiences of housesitting ourselves. We looked after three cats in Cirencester, and the following year a dog and two cats in Dorset. This winter again we are looking for a housesit in Great Britain, preferably by the sea.
From experience we fully understand the needs and concerns of home owners. We are very organised people and will look after your house as it was our own. As home owners we fully understand that house sitting is just not a way of getting a holiday home for free, but that we act in place of the owner including dealing with any crisis, keeping the house clean and tidy and doing any routine maintenance of the domestic appliances. We also understand the need to keep your utility bills to a minimum. We can communicate with you by phone, Skype, mail, WhatsApp etc and will keep you informed of the situation “at home”. I am fully bilingual in French and English, and can get by in German and Italian. Being from New-Zealand, Wayne’s mother tongue is English, but he also speaks good French.
We both love animals and will enjoy caring for yours. For as long as we can remember we have cared and been responsible for pets (and wild animals) including cats, dogs, chickens, hamsters and snakes. They have been either ours or those of friends and family. Our pets live to a very old age so we are used to geriatric patients! Our daughter is a veterinary practice manager so if required, we have her on tap, and all her practice vets, for advice and guidance. We are confident in administrating daily medications to cats and dogs (including worming tablets, flea treatment, insulin injections for diabetic pets etc). In France we usually keep a few pet chickens for their eggs, and know how to check them and treat them for parasites.

Testimonials
Cecile’s care and communication was exemplary
Cecile’s care and communication was exemplary. She liaised regularly leading up to the sit so I was never in doubt about their commitment and timings. We shared a meal together the night before my departure and Wayne and Cecile proved to be very kind, genuine people who took their role as pet/house caretakers seriously. Whilst I was away my cats behaviour changed and he went off his food. They took all appropriate steps, liaising with noted contacts, monitoring his intake and output, updating me frequently and agreeing next steps. It was incredibly reassuring to have had them care for Jarvis when he needed it most. I was very comfortable with them both in my home and had hoped they’d have more opportunity to see Jarvis at his cuddly best and enjoy much more of their own time without the added responsibilities which were bestowed on them, but the fact that I felt he was prioritised I will be forever grateful! They even checked up on him after his vets appointment. Lovely people 🏡🐈🧡

We arrived back to a very tidy home, happy pets, and a huge chocolate cake
It was a delight to welcome Cecile and Wayne into our home! This multi-national duo (team France and New Zealand playing away) arrived a day early and stayed nearby specifically so we could give them the full rundown of our pets and home. They took beautiful care of our spoilt cats and shy, crested gecko and kept us updated and entertained with their messages and pictures! We arrived back to a very tidy home, happy pets, and a huge chocolate cake. Thank you! :-)

We would love to welcome Cecile and Wayne back
We were fortunate enough to be able to spend an afternoon together with Cecile and Wayne before we left on our holiday. Lovely couple, dog and house were looked after in the best possible way. Communication whilst we were away was good, and our dog happy and the house immaculate when we returned. We would love to welcome Cecile and Wayne back to Lyme Regis again sometime in the future.

We sincerely hope they will return again
We are always apprehensive about confirming new sitters, particularly when we have quite a few applications - have we chosen the most suitable couple for ours and our dogs needs? All we can say is 'yes' we chose the perfect couple to look after our home and 2 dogs. Cecile and Wayne were a delightful, interesting and very caring couple. I think the dogs were in seventh heaven with lots of lovely walks, plenty of cuddles and away days all over Hampshire. They were very well looked after and we were delighted to find them the same size as when we departed. Our house was perfect and whilst we were away they kept us well informed and they appeared to enjoy their stay in Southsea. All in all we (and our dogs) can highly recommend Cecile and Wayne. You can definitely depart for your trip knowing full well that everything will be taken care of and you can relax and enjoy your vacation. We sincerely hope they will return again - they would be extremely welcome.

Thank you Cecile and Wayne, so much
Wayne and Cecile were perfect as our first experience of having sitters. Well, I think they're just perfect anyway. Wayne was kind enough to come and stay for two nights and familiarise himself with the house and our pets in advance of his and Cecile's stay. As we were leaving early in the morning of our holiday, Cecile and he came to stay on the afternoon before our departure so we could settle them in and they met our little dog and our two cats. Because of all of this and their general air of kindness and good humour we left our baby dog and our two cats pretty much without a backward glance. As we'd never left our house before we were probably far less perfect as house owners and we left behind a couple of things that needed to be addressed. Because Cecile and Wayne were such excellent communicators we were able to get friends and family to quickly get the fencing issues sorted out and hopefully Cecile and Wayne were able to relax and enjoy their stay. To say we would not hesitate to recommend them doesn't anywhere near express our gratitude to them. Their looking after things for us allowed us to get away from home and workplace (both in one) and have a much needed relaxing two weeks away. Thank you Cecile and Wayne, so much. Hope to see you for Sunday lunch this week!!

We would highly recommend them
This was the first time we have used house sitters and we were lucky to have found Cecile and Wayne to look after our cats and house. They did a wonderful job! They kept us updated about our cats which was reassuring and they were beautifully groomed on our return. Cecile and Wayne were very practical and respectful and we came back from holiday to a tidy house, happy cats and a lovely supper. We would highly recommend them as house sitters and hope they will come to sit for us again.
