About this sitter
I was widowed 2.5 years ago. Now I am a solo sitter. However my story remains. We had traveled the world's seas on our 24 foot engine less sailboat and a larger sailboat, a 41 foot ketch.
My interests are gardening, animals and repairs. I like hiking, kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, exploring new places and riding bicycles. And taking good care of your home and animals while you are away.
I love travel and meeting new people. And having new adventures.
House/pet sitting allows me the pleasure of having an animal's unconditional love while getting to know a new place. It can feel like home.
Why they want to house sit
My life is going through changes. I am able to move about the world. I enjoy careing for pets and homes in new places. Being a house/animal sitter gives me a base to work out my next adventure. It gives me an opportunity to experience different parts of the country and the world.

Yes. I belong to more than one of these wonderful pet sitting communities. I have been moving around the world since March 2024. I have found my sits on the East coast of the USA, two sits in the UK, a sit in Guam, and presently I'm travelling around Australia. At last count, since starting my life of pet/house sitting in February 2022, I've cared for fish, lizards, Guinea pigs, 20 cats, and 30 dogs. All with various sizes and temperaments.
What can they bring to the assignment
Versatility, patience, gardening skills, food preparation, carpentry skills, painting skills, concrete laying, clear communication, love of animals be they cats, dogs, goats, horses, hamsters, or others. Familiarity with organic gardening and permaculture.
Boat life for us has been off grid. I am familiar with composting toilets, living with solar power, and conserving water.

Peace of Mind
We left our dog and 3 cats for a week in April with Karen and her husband and then they returned to watch over the animals and the house for an additional 5 weeks. We returned to happy pets and a neat and tidy house. The house plants had been taken care of and our rather large lawn had been mowed and everything looked great. They were conscientious about making sure that our instructions for the care of the pets was followed. Although the responses to my text were not immediate, there was always a response. Not everyone lives with their phone attached to their hip. All in all a great experience and I only wish that they would be available for our next long trip.
