Retired non-smoking youthful 57-yr old Irish/Welsh animal lover living in Madrid

About this sitter

I'm Irish-Welsh but have been very happily living in Spain for over 30 years. At the youthful age of 57, I have just successfully managed to get early retirement from the TV industry.

I love animals and have two beautiful cats (in photos) who my sons (now in 20s) will look after while I’m away looking after your pets or garden!
I have a lovely house and a lovely garden which I tend to with plenty of TLC. Can’t say I’ve got super green fingers, but I do alright.

My partner still works (IT industry) and can work from anywhere as long as there is a really good internet connection, so he will often join me on an assignment.

We both love music and we both play instruments.

I am not looking for any particular type of house sit. I'm rather adventurous for my age and don't mind whether the sit is in London or the Himalayas...

Why they want to house sit

Now that I’m retired, and am finally free, I'm looking forward to travelling and seeing even more of the world.

I've been a single Mum (Dad passed away) to two kids for over 18 years, while holding down tough managerial positions. All pretty intense. So I've become pretty resourceful!

So after all those action-packed years, now its my turn for some well-deserved rest and to enjoy life in a different way.
My two sons still live at home as they're still studying, so I would really like to be able to get away from time to time and have some space for just me. And give them some space too.
I have always loved travelling, and at this stage in my life, I like the idea of doing things differently, staying in one place, whether it be seaside, city or both, and just chill and blend in with the locals.

And most importantly, I love animals, so house-sitting and pet-caring (never liked the word "pet") suits me to a tee.
I also love walking (great for dogs), reading (great for lap-loving cats) and watching tv series!

I can provide references and police certificates (which I had to obtain recently in order to obtain Spanish nationality).

I'm ("Sheldon"ly) clean and tidy. I prefer not to accept house-sits for homes that are very lax with cleanliness. That's my only condition. I don't care whether the sit is in Hong Kong or Bath, but really prefer not to have to start cleaning when I arrive at a sit.

Otherwise, I'm very, very flexible and open-minded.

Their experience

I have looked after cats, aquarium fish, and dogs. And a possum!!

Experience includes looking after very elderly dogs, and cats, on meds as well.

We have two cats in our family (in photos). The oldest is 16 and the youngest has been seriously ill and on meds on a couple of occasions. So used to dealing with vets and very sick animals.

And for a couple of years I had and looked after a pretty well-stocked aquarium.

I have numerous 5-star references on other housesitting apps. I have included some examples in the photo section. But I can offer a lot more.

I also speak English and Spanish fluently. French pretty well and have basic Portuguese.

I've already had Covid (june 2022) and have had all the vaccines and top-ups.
