About this sitter

I am a happy, caring and quick-thinking woman in her mid-forties.

I have always loved animals and nature. I did my degree in Zoology and Environmental Science before going into International Development, helping rural communities in Kenya access clean water.

After that I spent some years caring for an elderly relative with dementia. That taught me a lot about the practical aspects of caring for someone who is unable to communicate with words.

I work online as a community manager and virtual assistant, supporting small businesses with branding, communications and data analysis.

My partner Emile is a writer and always seeking new inspiration. He is half-Norwegian half-Australian and has a passion for travel and good food. We love to cook together and enjoy peaceful times in nature walks.

We enjoy travel and house-sitting as a way to see new places, spend time in nature and care for some animals while also saving a little cash.

We have been traveling on and off since mid-2022, and about half of that was house-sitting. We have made many lovely animal friends across the UK and Scandinavia.

We are currently looking for a summer sit in the UK (or Norway) in July or August. Ideally for 4-6 weeks.

Why they want to house sit

We are exploring a semi-nomadic lifestyle, without permanent commitments to accommodation.

Since we are both able to work remotely (with decent wi-fi), this creates a perfect opportunity to do something different and see new places in a lower-cost way.

We love the idea of making new connections and creating a mutually beneficial relationship with home-owners who need reliable sitters. We have completed a few assignments now and found them all really enjoyable.

Their experience

My family has had cats and dogs all my life; I do take occasional paid work as a dog-sitter/dog walker, and also care for my neighbour's chickens when she is away.

We have done house-sitting in both rural areas with land and city flats. I am an experienced driver and clean and tidy person. We always treat any accommodation we visit in a respectful and careful manner.

I have travelled a fair bit and am very comfortable in all sorts of different living arrangements, from rural Cambodia with no running water to Spanish villas with a pool, even sleeping under the stars in Brittany :)

What can they bring to the assignment

We are flexible with dates and locations, open to new ideas and challenges. Having been a home-owner, tenant and landlord I am sensitive to the needs of a home-owner and conscientious about my space.

Between us we are fluent in English and Norwegian, with a little French and Cambodian too..

Keeping a tidy house and engaging with animals are both things we enjoy. We also love going for walks in nature, so dog-sitting fits well with our lifestyle.

We are both fit and energetic and happy to spend time on tasks around the home and garden, if instructions/guidance are given.

We are very peaceful people, so particularly good with shy or rescue animals :)

We are good communicators and look forward to updating you with any news or handling any unexpected situation that may arise.

If you have a piano I can put it to good use as I have my Grade 8 and love to play!
