About this sitter
We are a married couple in our 60's. We're fit and active and like to garden, cook, create landscapes, hike, cycle and generally explore. We currently have a sweet cat named Winona. In the past we have had chickens and a dog as well as cats. We love caring for and spending time with all kinds of animals and hanging out at our home and property. New environments, lifestyles and people are what makes our lives rich, so house sitting is an ideal concept for us.
Why they want to house sit
We love to experience other cultures and lifestyles. By being honest, hard working and responsible sitters, we get the privilege of helping others leave home with confidence that their homes and pets will be cared for well.
Their experience
We have completed 7 house sits to date, with one more on the schedule. Our assignments have given us experience in the US as well as Europe and the UK. We've cared for cats, dogs, and sheep thus far- in addition to years of "unofficial" experience with chickens, goats and a few donkeys. Property care during sits includes a 10 acre farm, historic homes of various sizes and shapes, and extensive gardens.
What can they bring to the assignment
First and foremost, we bring integrity, competence, and attention to the little things. Jim is a biologist with a professional background in plant care and entomology. Lisa's background is in photography and design. She has recently created a community garden. We have cared for goats, chickens, birds, cats, dogs and successfully rehabbed a (frozen)robin hatchling! We bring the desire to leave a property better than we found it if at all possible, add value to the assignment however we can, and create a secure, loving culture for pets. We are 100% faithful to honor our commitments barring some unforeseen emergency. If we accept an assignment, we will be there ready to serve your needs as our priority.

Amazingly Kind Couple
We feel so fortunate that our paths crossed with Lisa and Jim's. The are such kind, caring, and personable people. You couldn't find a nicer, more patient couple. Right as we were arranging details for this housesitting assignment, we learned some unexpected news about our older kitty girl's health. They reassured us that whatever the outcome/treatment plan was, they were up for the care that she needed. They even experimented with some different strategies during the sit to make our kitty girl more comfortable. Things I had never even though of (putting her water separate from her food and closer to where she likes to rest; mixing her oral meds into her wet food and adding a bit of water so she got more hydration vs. just administering the meds). They were so sweet and incredible kind to her. Our outdoor kitty boy is another story. A piece of work himself. He is super shy and skid-dish, but he came up to Jim and Lisa for pets. He could feel their kitty love. If that weren't enough, our house was spotless when we returned home. It was so very appreciated! We would have them back in a heartbeat! Know you furry friends are in THE BEST hands!

Perfect house sitters now friends
We really struck lucky with Jim and Lisa who looked after our house and cat Nando, and can't recommend them highly enough. They are relaxed, friendly, considerate and very responsible and we feel we have lovely new friends. They looked after the house and Nando beautifully and kept us up to date with photos, took care of the garden, picked and froze some of our produce for us and made us a loaf of bread and dinner the night we came back. They took a lot of trouble to read the information we left and check everything was in working order. We would love to have them back any time.

Perfect house and cat sitters
Jim and Lisa looked after our cat Clive for about 2 weeks in July 2023, and we couldn't have asked for anyone better. Clive is not a cat that easily welcomes new people, but Jim and Lisa nevertheless quickly built up a very good rapport with him and were interested in anything that might make our absence easier for him. During our trip, they kept us up to date with daily updates, including photos. Thanks to Lisa's photography skills, our photo collection of Clive is now on a higher level. ???? They also took great care of our house and garden, leaving them in probably better condition than they found them. We were lucky enough to spend half a day with Lisa and Jim before we left and another evening upon our return. They are incredibly nice and pleasant people who we would love to see again, either as friends or cat sitters or both. They are always welcome at our house, and we can highly recommend them as pet sitters.

They had us covered!
I was lucky enough to find Lisa and Jim on MMH to come for a brief-ish stay (Wed-Sun) at my Asheville home. Though the house sit wasn't long, it was important for me to find someone to stay in our absence mostly for my kitty Raul's sake--a night or two alone, he could handle, but four nights is more than I was willing to allow. We scored big time with reliable, professional, caring house sitters. Lisa and Jim obviously kept Raul happy while also keeping my home in good shape--and providing daily updates along the way. Upon our return, I was so pleased to find everything at least as neat (maybe more!) as it had been before we left (and I tried to do due diligence leaving them a clean and well-ordered house, old as our house is!). Returning home, seeing what good order house was in and how well kitty had been tended to, was a blessing! I am very grateful to the Rabolds for being willing to come for a shorter stay--I hope they enjoyed Asheville and might consider returning to house sit again in the future!

Wonderful people, great house sitters
Lisa and Jim arrived the day before I left to get the lay of the land. They immediately bonded with my 4-footed kids and fit right into the household. Although I had a pretty comprehensive list of info, they came armed with questions to fill in the blanks. I heard from them just about every day I was gone, with lots of pictures showing their daily activities with the kids, to accompany the messages. They were totally flexible and stayed an extra day to accommodate a long awaited dishwasher replacement as well as an equally long awaited visit from a handyman. Jim and Lisa even installed a new doggie door for me while I was gone! When I returned, the house was immaculate and while the dog and cats were happy to see me, they clearly had gotten the love and attention they deserve (and demand!) while I was away. I would definitely give the Rabold's the highest recommendation as house sitters and caretakers of your special little pals. Hope to see them again!

Wow! We love Lisa and Jim and will have them back
Lisa and Jim are just who you want to have in your house when you go away. We came home to an immaculate house and gardens. We'd asked them to keep our farm going and they cheerfully did everything and liked doing it! Our sheep were happy, our garden produce picked, our home delightful. And, we like them very much personally, now that we know them. They are healthy, well-adjusted people with a great attitude towards life.
