Responsible and Caring Academic Nomad Pet/House Sitter

About this sitter

I love learning and am fortunate to have opportunities to travel. My job as an educator at a research-intensive university in California provides me the flexibility and privilege of traveling. I earned a PhD in Sociology and am committed to learning alongside others by listening, reading, thinking, and writing. I am passionate about studying migration, health, and aging (to name a few research interests). As a first-generation college graduate from a working-class background, I was first given a taste of travel through educational opportunities. I was born and raised in Houston, Texas and am the proud daughter of Mexican migrants.

I enjoy traveling and I have recently embraced my academic nomad lifestyle. Ever since I had the opportunity to leave Texas, I have lived on the West, Midwest, and East coasts of the United States. Throughout my graduate training I was a house/pet sitter for multiple faculty members, including for my PhD mentor. As an Assistant Professor, I continue to seek opportunities to house/pet sit for colleagues and friends.

I hope to create new travel memories by embracing my love for animals, nature, and adventures. I truly enjoy meeting new people, seeing new places, animals, and nature. I strongly believe that by pet/house sitting, I'll be able to not only travel but live like a local while caring for your pets and home.

Why they want to house sit

House and pet sitting will provide a perfect balance of intensive writing and relaxation by caring for pets, plants, and a home. Given my current nomad life I am not able to have my own pets yet, therefore, house and pet sitting are perfect ways to obtain the benefits that pets bring to our lives, while also creating new travel memories.

Their experience

I have over fifteen years of experience house/pet sitting. I began as a graduate student and continue to house/pet sit for my mentors, colleagues, and friends. The opportunities to house/pet sit have been mutually beneficial as others pets and homes have helped me progress in my research and writing while I also take great care of pets/homes.

What can they bring to the assignment

I bring genuine and authentic care for your pets and homes. My goal is to care for your pet(s) so that they do not miss you as much and to leave your home as tidy as possible. I am extremely responsible and will leave your home as clean as possible, so that when you return you will not even notice you were gone. After meeting and learning your expectations, I will tailor a care house/pet plan that aligns with your goals and needs. Thank you for your consideration!
