About this sitter
We are Toby and Jamie. We are both retired and lead an active life. We own an 1896 farmhouse on 3 acres on the river in Lafayette, La.
After losing our 14 year old Yorkie, we decided to try house/pet sitting. We love it. It allows us to travel and also love on pets.
We did take a bit of time off from pet sitting to be able to move, gut and restore the farmhouse. We moved into the farmhouse in November 2025 and have settled in and are ready to begin house/pet sitting again.
Why they want to house sit
We are interesting in house sitting as a way to truly experience different areas of the United States.
Having responsibilities such as pet care, house cleaning and yard maintenance would truly give an idea of what living in a certain area is really like. We find that vacationing in an area is not a true picture of what living there would be like. We want to experience places while “doing as the locals do”.
Also, we both love animals! We both have a “soft heart” for animals and their unconditional love.
Pet sitting gives us the opportunity to temporarily experience the love of animals without the long term commitment.
Their experience
We started house/ pet sitting in December 2022 both locally and via Mind My House. As of October 2026, we have completed 15 sits.
We owned a historic house in the city that we remodeled ourselves. We had a 3/4 acre yard that we maintained. We also helped the neighbor maintain his properties on a volunteer basis. We sold this house in June 2023 and bought 3 acres. We moved an 1896 farmhouse to the property and gutted and restored most of it ourselves. We had a contractor for the big parts and city code compliance only.
We had a 14 year old diabetic Yorkie that passed away in October 2022. We administered 2 insulin shots daily for over 7 years and dealt with the occasional seizures as his diabetes was never able to be completely controlled despite the years of testing/scans/treatment.
We are both very OCD about making sure our house, yard and vehicles and are very well kept and clean, so we are very capable of taking care of any house/pet in which someone would entrust to us.
What can they bring to the assignment
What we could bring to any assignment that we would accept is a guarantee that upon a client’s return, they would have a clean, well maintained house and yard and an also a happy, well cared for and content pet.

Excellent Pet Sitters and House Guests!
Jamie and Toby were incredible pet sitters for our dog Roo and left our house cleaner and more lovely than they found it! Roo was so well loved by Jamie and Toby during their stay - they walked her regularly, cared for her every need, and even bought her a birthday candle and special treat for her birthday while we were gone! They also sang to her and took a video to send us. Jamie and Toby kept us regularly updated on how Roo was doing and sent regular sweet pictures. They were very flexible and helpful, and left our house absolutely glowing! Roo misses them, and we do too! They will definitely be invited back any time they wish!

Jamie and Toby were phenomenal!
Jamie and Toby took care of my 2 dogs Jake and Sam for 2 weeks…I just returned today. My dogs were in the best hands and extremely well cared for! I received daily updates, pictures and videos and could tell my dogs were happy campers. I returned to an immaculate home to boot. I highly recommend these two gems and wish them well. Jamie and Toby could come back anytime!

Jamie and Toby Miller house sat for us during the 2nd week of our three week trip to France. Due to a death in his family, our son in law and our daughter were unable to stay at our house as planned. We asked our regular pet sitter to cover the first and third weeks. Jamie contacted Kaitlyn so there would be a smooth transition when they arrived and then when they left. The Millers arrived during a chaotic time- there was an issue with the automatic food dispenser and a possible water leak in the house. They calmly held the fort down until these issues were resolved and solved the dispenser mystery. They provided loads of TLC for our rather skittish cats and kept us up to date with texts and pictures. The house was immaculate when we returned. The sheets and towels had been washed, furniture dusted, etc. We even found that the hummingbird feeders were filled. Jamie and Toby exceeded my expectations. Your house and pets will be in very good hands while in their care.

Amazing
Jamie and Toby just watched our dogs for the 2nd time for a week. Our dogs absolutely adore Jamie and Toby. I never have to worry about by home or pets when they are at our home. I love the daily texts with photos and info of their day, and updates on the dogs. We absolutely adore them and hope in the future they will be back again for a 3rd time.

Wonderful housesitters!
Jamie and Toby took care of my home and two cats for a week in February. They are wonderful, happy people and took such good care of the house and my felines. And ... after Jamie agreed to the housesit I unintentionally adopted 5 feral cats (or I should say they adopted me!). Jamie and Toby continued feeding them ... and watched over the arrival of a baby fox and deer! Jamie sent me daily updates and photos that ensured me that all was well on the home front, and when we returned home she'd done an over the top cleaning job. What more can you ask!!! This couple come highly recommended. You can't do better.

Amazing sitters
Jamie and Toby watched our two dogs for two weeks. I cannot say enough good things about them, they really treated our pets and our home like their own. Our yard was well maintained, my garden and our pool.Jamie kept us updated daily on our pets. When we returned our home was so clean, a nice touch after traveling so long. We can’t wait to have Jamie and Toby return in the future.

They are extremely responsible and caring individuals that went above and beyond our expectations. They kept in frequent communication with us with updates on Kyle and the house. They helped with the upkeep of our home and made us feel assured that everything was being well taken care of while we were gone. They have experience with the care of senior dogs and were intuitive in meeting all of Kyle's needs. Kyle has never done well being boarded and having reputable, responsible and caring house sitters is extremely important to us when we travel. Angels for House Sitters
Jamie and Toby took totally excellent care of my house, plants, 2 cats and dog for 2 weeks. I couldn't have asked for better caretakers! They were such sweet and conscientious people who took care of many details and were so kind to my pets, including walking my dog twice a day and playing with my young troublemaker cat! They put up with my weird house rules without a complaint. Jamie and Toby are high quality people with big hearts who I hope will continue to be friends!
