Retired UK Veterinary Surgeon/Teacher and Horticulturist couple

About this sitter

Hello - We are Roddy and Sian Reid, a married couple of some 34 years. We recently retired - me from a career of teaching Physics for 13 years after 25 years of being a small animal Veterinary Surgeon, and Sian from commercial horticulture. We love France - I speak French to (so I am told) C1 level and Sian always understands far more than than she will admit.

Our love of animals goes without saying, although we currently are down to one cat, Bert, who very happily goes and stays with our son when we are away. We are pretty resilient and practically minded, having cycle toured round SE Asia for 6 months in 2017.

Why they want to house sit

We spend around 4 months a year in France in our camper van, and love being in new places and exploring the surroundings. Camper vans out of season are not the most ideal living quarters, so house sitting is a great option to fulfil our wanderlust but provide a service to others during the colder months. I'd also like to persuade Sian to speak more French than "une baguette s.v.p"

Their experience

We have done five house sittings now( one of them being outwith mindmyhouse). Our current house is more modern, but our previous pre down sizing house was a bit more tricky to manage in terms of having it's own idiosyncracies As you might imagine given my career, I'm pretty experienced with pet care and dealing with unpredictable situations.

What can they bring to the assignment

We are a very easy going and down to earth couple, but equally with high standards of cleanliness and professionalism. We will have our own car, are non smokers, will always take off muddy boots at the doorstep, not panic if a circuit breaker trips and allow you to have a worry free break.
