About this sitter
Hello, I'm a 60+ female with time on my hands! I have always been involved with animals firstly I grew up on a farm and then I trained as a veterinary nurse working with both large and small animals. I've also volunteered for various animal welfare groups including the Alexander Junior wildlife Centre and the marine rescue centre in California, the Isle of Man Seal Sanctuary and the PDSA (UK) fostering cats. Now I've discovered house sitting I'm in a win win situation as it joins my love of animals with travel. I am not looking for anything particular in a house sit, just a nice relaxing environment with pet cuddles.
Why they want to house sit
I don't have pets of my own so to get my much needed pet therapy I just love to take care of other folks fur babies and farm animals. I also love visiting new areas to learn about different cultures, environments and foods and to leave behind a British winter!
Their experience
I have over 10 years of house sitting with nearly 50 sits completed, taking good care of 45 dogs, 65 cats, as well as a few chicken, sheep and fish. My Trusted House Sits are all 5*. Due to my vet nursing background I am confident on taking care of high risk pets such as older pets and those requiring medical care or assistance. I've travel and worked extensively, I retrained as a Marine Biologist which led me to live in many tropical countries and travel extensively in other places. I've worked in the Philippines, Suriname, South Africa, Curaçao, Outer Hebrides and the Isle of Man.
What can they bring to the assignment
I'm very comfortable around most animals, I'm practical and tend not to make mountains out of mole hills. I'm pretty neat and tidy and respect people's places and personal affects. I don't smoke and don't drink much. I can drive left or right side of the road, happy with manual, automatic, 4x4 or 2 wheels, motorised or otherwise. I'm also an experienced gardener, mainly fruit & vegetables but know enough to keep house plants alive and outdoor garden plants watered and fed. But my main focus will be on pet welfare and their comfort. I'm pretty independent and happy to be on my own in most remote places. Though on occasions my long suffering partner! will join me for part or all of a sit with the home owners permission

Perfect house and pet sitter
Jill was the first to respond to our posting when we needed someone to look after our house in Corfu with four cats and a garden for two months. We immediately agreed, impressed by her experience. Little did any of us know the complications that would arise during the stay—the island experience flooding and landslides….and a cat up the road brought her four kittens into the house. We all agreed we couldn’t turn them away and Jill and her partner Richard adjusted their daily routines and left us detailed suggestions that made our return go smoothly. Anyone who is fortunate enough to have Jill offer to house and pet sit for them should take advantage; in our experience, she is the best.

Jill and Richard were great cat sitters
Jill and Richard were great cat sitters, reliable, and looked after the cats, the cottage and the garden well - even watering my delicate seedlings without drowning them or frying them! They kept in touch while we were away by sending a photo or two every day which was much appreciated. Left the house clean and tidy and offered to buy us any supplies that we might need on our return as it was late. I would not hesitate to have them again and recommend them to anyone else.

Jill was the absolute perfect housesitter
Jill was the absolute perfect housesitter. We never once had to worry about anything, she was very hands on and dealt with problems if they arose. Our pets were perfectly happy and in an even better condition when we came back. We also had the pleasure to spend 2 days with Jill when we returned and she treated us as guests in our house- she even cooked dinner for us twice. Jill and Richard are just the perfect house sitters
What can we say? Jill and Richard are just the perfect house sitters. From our first telephone conversation with Jill we felt very confident, but after her visit to us prior to the sit our confidence was boosted to 100%, and this was reinforced when they turned up obviously perfectly organised for the two weeks we were going to be away. Our cat, who is not always the most sociable of animals with strangers, was soon sitting on Jill's lap, as the messages and photos we received clearly showed, and there was just the perfect amount of feed back during our absence on how things were going. When we got home, luckily dodging the beginnings of storm Bert, the house was in perfect order with everything clean and tidy, and very kindly, essentials in the fridge. Should Jill and Richard be available for future house sits for us we would be absolutely delighted to see them return. We have to say again, they are just the most perfect house sitters! Jill was a wonderful sitter- she was fantastic at sending updates on Pushkin the cat and anything else she thought we might need to know. Oreo - Lyme Regis
Jill did an amazing job caring for my boy in my flat in Lyme Regis. Unfortunately Oreo got poorly and Jill went above and beyond in her attempts to settle his stomach! Spoilt him rotten and got him on the road to recovery! Jill also really looked after my home and I think it was neater and tidier upon my return than it was handed over to her! This was the second time
This was the second time that Jill has been to sit for us and it was great to be able to go away on holiday confident in the knowledge that the pets and house would be well cared for in our absence. Poppy was really excited to see Jill again! Jill sent us regular updates including a lovely video of a very clearly happy Poppy playing with her ball in the garden. We so enjoyed looking at this while we were away! Communication before, during and after the sit was always good and it was great to come back to a spotlessly clean and tidy house. The garden and chickens had also been well tended, thank you Jill. It was also a real treat to find a bottle of Jill's homemade elderflower cordial in the fridge - thanks Jill, it's delicious! We all really hope that Jill will come and house sit at Tolleys again.

Jill is a former vet nurse and this was just one of the reasons we chose Jill to house-sit for our two cats; one of whom needs extra care and attention and is on daily medication. Which is not always easy to administer. But right from the outset, it was obvious to us that Jill has a special way with cats, knowing how to approach them and quickly learning how to ‘read’ their sometimes curious needs! It didn’t take long during our 1st telephone conversation to decide Jill was right for us. And she was very willing to find the time to visit us at home and meet the cats a few weeks prior to our holiday away. During our 2 weeks on holiday, we had more-or-less daily contact with Jill via WhatsApp messaging. Sending us occasional photos of them enjoying lots of attention. Sometimes also enjoying the company of Jill’s partner Richard who visited a few times during her stay. And Jill was great at double checking things with us where our Welcome notes were not clear enough. Always much appreciated. So by all accounts, the cats thoroughly enjoyed Jill and Richard’s company. We returned after 2 weeks away to two very relaxed cats and a lovely tidy home. Perfect. So we would have no hesitations in recommending Jill as a wholly reliable, trustworthy and thorough house-sitter. Jill is also a lovely person and we had some good laughs along the way!

Throughly recommend
It is SO nice to come back from a very long 12hr drive and 10days away to find your sitter has left your house spotless! Going that extra mile to mop and wipe surfaces is a huge plus and so appreciate. Gwyn was happy, minimal contact needed (unless Jill had a question), an overall great sit. Jill even set and cleaned the fire for us! Throughly recommend. Thank you Jill!

Although our cats took sometime to become accustomed to Jill's presence it was not her fault (they are very shy) and she handled the situation very well keeping us well informed all the time. Jill was a fantastic cat sitter, firstly suggesting a visit before the sit so she could meet the cats, and then being available at short notice on a shortish sit.
