About this sitter
We are well travelled and multi-lingual, we are native English speakers, my wife is fluent in French and German, has a high level of Spanish and basic Arabic Greek and Italian. In comparison I have passable French! I worked for a university in a role that required extensive world wide travel, developing higher education partnerships. I have recently taken early retirement. We have a house in the countryside with 1.5 acres (6000 Sq m) of land including a garden, a kitchen garden, an orchard, a paradise garden, a wildflower meadow and a 20m natural pond. We have a gorgeous golden retriever dog and a lovely tabby cat. These are looked after by our grown up children when we are away. So we are very used to looking after pets and love gardening.
Why they want to house sit
We love travel, both for holidays and to get to know local people, customs and traditions. House sitting will give me / us the opportunity to get to know an area and people more than is possible from a short holiday

We have lived abroad for three years in Oman, and my wife has lived in France twice, each for one year.We have house sat for a couple twice in France so far this year for a total of about 7 weeks (testimonials are available)

Martin Brown home sat for us for 3 weeks in Feb. 2023. He is a very reliable and responsible person, as well as being interesting to talk with. We had some nice conversations and his interests are expansive. He kept in contact with us and was good about keeping our cat and plants (inside and out) happy. He took us to the airport and picked us also. The house was in good shape when we returned and he even made us an excellent home cooked dinner when we returned. I would highly recommend him. Nothing broke down in the house while he was there so I don't know his handy man skills but I imagine they are good.
