Thank you for looking at our profile, we are Emma (44) and Ben (37), a couple from New Zealand.

2026 - 2027 availability:
We are currently in Mexico (August 2026) looking after the beautiful off grid property here in Xcalak until mid December. This is our fourth year coming back to Xcalak, and we have become Mexican Residents! Our next plans are open until mid January when we will spend time volunteering at La Isla de los Monos in Peru, caring for orphaned monkeys (we have been spending time there since 2016). We are then available from March until late July, and late in the year.

We travel and work full time, and have done since 2015. We run our own business focussed on website development and marketing projects for our customers at home in New Zealand, and all over the world. You can take a look at our business here: https://bebusiness.nz

We own a home in New Zealand that is rented in our absence, so you can be assured that we understand the trust needed in someone else caring for your property.

Why they want to house sit

Prior to our work-travel we both held high level management roles within large corporations in New Zealand, but decided instead to set up our own business that we are able to experience the world with.

We are slow travellers and house sitting for us is perfect as it allows us to discover new places, and not just tick "must sees" off a list. House sitting enables us to focus on our business and customer projects - a wonderful "win-win" as you can be assured we are spending time at your home, with your pets, while you are away.

We are crazy about animals! The hardest thing about traveling long term is the lack of constant animals in our life. That's why we volunteer as much as possible with animal charities, and relish the opportunity to house sit with pets. We're those people who will say hello first to the animals in a place, then the humans!

Their experience

We have a huge amount of experience house sitting. We also have experience running businesses and guest houses as required as part of a house sitting assignment.

We have vast experience looking after animals of all sorts, and spend time volunteering with a variety of different animal rescue centres.

A selection of house sits we have completed:
- a property in Belize for 3 months
- a farm in Argentina looking after pigs, horses, dogs, cats, chickens and ducks for 2 months
- a guest house with 2 dogs (and guests!) in Sri Lanka for 6 months
- a hostel with guests in Panama for 3 months
- a lifestyle block with chickens, a dog and cat in New Zealand for 2 weeks
- a holiday property in New Zealand for 6 months
- an off grid casita in Mexico for 6 months in 2023, 2024, 2025, and right now, in 2026. We hope that this repeat assignment provides you with the assurance you are looking for.

What can they bring to the assignment

We are very personable, and are a couple you can trust 100%.
Animal lovers and also both previous dog, cat, rabbit, fish and guinea pig owners, we have no qualms about ensuring your pets are looked after and loved.

We are problem solvers who have easily and happily lived off grid, and have managed properties with various needs. We are capable of caring for swimming pools, gardens, and more.

We are happy to assist with any online needs you have while we house sit for you. If you have a website that you would like updated, or if you would like a new one this is absolutely something we could do for you while we stay. We can also assist with your social media channels if this is helpful.

Some of our house sitting has involved managing guest houses in an owner's absence, which we are very happy to do. We can take care of guests, welcoming them and making sure they have a great time, and are competent staff managers.

Managing properties means we also have a hands on practical approach to maintenance as required.
