About this sitter
I've taken retirement after thirty years as a staff attorney for federal district court judges in the US, and I am seeking house sit opportunities in Ireland to prepare for moving to Ireland permanently. I am kind, responsible, respectful, clean, non-smoking, and physically fit. I am looking for assignments with durations of a few weeks or longer anywhere in Ireland.

I love to house sit in Ireland because I have my Irish Passport and Irish citizenship and house sitting prepares me for fulfilling my lifelong dream of living in Ireland permanently.

I have completed two house-sitting assignments in 2023 and 2024. The hosts have posted testimonials about these successful experiences. Additionally, after retiring as a federal attorney I have served as an expert Mediator for a non-profit organization helping people find durable and respectful solutions to conflict. I have specialized in housing disputes and I understand what property owners need and deserve regarding careful custodianship of their homes.

I offer deep respect, maturity, and professionalism in all of my interactions. Additionally, I am kind and genuinely warm toward other people and their pets. I have a good sense of humor and a healthy, smiling humility. My enthusiasm for residing in Ireland is enriched by my multiple solo visits. I have gained important practical experience by visiting Ireland frequently -- from how to find any necessary resources to how navigate along the roadways. My Grandfather grew up in Mayo and I am honored to be returning to his homeland. I am flexible and deferential, and I am eager to accommodate homeowners with grace.

You could not do better!
Michael house/dog sat for me for just over a month this summer. He quickly befriended my 2 dogs, managing to win over the rather stand offish terrier. Within a day or two they were very comfortable with him, and by the end of his stay, they greeted him with much excitement and genuine delight. My neighbor commented on how often they were walked, and the excellent care they received. My house was beautifully looked after, and spotlessly clean when I returned home. Michael got on very well with all the locals, and is missed by everyone. When he left, the dogs and I felt sad. I cant recommend Micheal highly enough. I wish he would come back. I had checked his references before offering him the house-sit, and the other people who have had him stay, said the same about him. I am more than happy to recommend him for Dog/house sitting assignments, but I would also recommend Michael as a really good bloke, honest, sensible, funny, kind, and genuine. Peace of mind pet sitter
When I say that Michael looked after our dogs for the past month, we really mean that Michael loved our dogs for us for the last month! We had so much peace of mind while we were away because we were so assured by Michael 's love, care, contact and updates on how Milly and Max were doing. It was a pleasure to have met Michael and to have had him in our home, which he left in immaculate condition. We would have no hesitation in highly recommending Michael as a pet and house sitter, he is outstanding!

Can't recommend Michael highly enough, simply the best!
Michael was simply amazing – it was truly a pleasure to have him mind our house and our two dogs. Apart from being most capable and incredibly neat, we had a chance to get to know a wonderful person with a sense of adventure and wonder. Our dogs loved him dearly, they bonded at first sight, he spoilt them just like we do! After Michael left our dogs were truly missing him– hopefully he reads this and comes back to us! Michael kept in touch all the time, sending us lovely photos and videos and updates every day. We returned to a fully cleaned and stunningly tidy home, with all the bedlinen washed and the bed made for us 5 star hotel style! He truly appreciated our land with the same awe and respect that we have for it. He even helped us with a gardening project planting pumpkins and took great care of all the plants and flowers. I can't recommend Michael highly enough – he is very trustworthy, amazing with animals, takes great care of the property and a truly great person. He also accommodated our trip plans when the date changed the last minute – flying from the US no less! We would be lucky to have him housesit for us again!
