I’m an animal-loving writer and creative, and am forever a sucker for cute pets. Easy-going, I’m often just as happy lounging at home as I am exploring new places and adventuring on the road. Whether I’m mobile or landed, I love eating good food, visiting museums and creative spaces, thrift shopping, going for walks and hikes in scenic spots, listening to music (live or otherwise), and watching a good film or show. So in a house sit, I’m always excited by cozy homes with sweet pets and access to some of my aforementioned hobbies of choice. My only requirement is internet access, so I can keep up with my various projects and work.

Why they want to house sit

I love animals and getting to travel! I work remotely, and have been exploring potential spots to move to along with restful stops near familiar places. And as far as figuring out a move, I can’t think of a better way to feel out a place than getting to stay in a homey environment, where I can really feel out what a region offers, both big and small. Having a sense of home on my travels, and getting to stay for longer stretches, really suits my pace and interests—and I especially like having a pet (or a few!) as housemates to lounge around and hangout with.

Their experience

I’ve been house and pet sitting for the past decade at least 2-3 times a year or more, and often for 1-3 week spells. In that time, I’ve sat for homes with various needs. Regarding pets, I’ve sat for cats, dogs, and the occasional chickens, with a full range of animal ages and requests. I’m familiar with administering medications, following different feeding protocols, and managing indoor/outdoor needs. I’ve also sat for homes with various watering to keep up with—as well as hot tub maintenance—alongside the usual tasks of mail pickup, trash/recycling, and general cleaning of both homes and pet zones.

What can they bring to the assignment

On top of all of my experience, I have a deep love for all animals, and am a bit of a homebody at heart. I’m really present with the pets I sit for, and I so enjoy getting to know new critters—from cats and dogs, to farm animals and more. I’m also great at warming up shy animals and creating an environment for them to feel safe and comfortable. And I’m just as able to take excellent care of social and more expressive pets—whether it’s going out for walks or hikes, or just making regular time for at-home play. Beyond my animal aptitude, I’m also very clean and detail oriented, making sure I maintain whatever space I’m in. I bring a real warmth and care across the board to any assignment I take on.
