Retired Texan couple, cat lovers and carers

About this sitter

We are a retired couple living near Houston, Texas in the US. Val is a retired nurse and Don is a retired medical-devices engineer. Don’s hobbies include planting trees and gardening, and walking daily. Val loves to travel (it is her currency of joy!), plus sewing and cooking. We are new transplants from Florida and are enjoying making our new home in Texas.

Why they want to house sit

Val was a foreign-exchange student in Belgium MANY years ago - and has enjoyed many travels back to Europe with Don and also her sister. We have both fallen in love with travel, and Don is very outgoing and social and truly enjoys meeting and talking to everyone. A house sit just appeals to our desire to meet new people, discover new areas and see places we might have never found otherwise.

Their experience

Not yet! We have been helping to care for elderly parents and Val recently retired, so we have not had the good fortune yet. But we are very tidy, respectful of others and their belongings and have a great desire to house and garden sit soon. Our new home has a smaller garden so we are hoping to stay somewhere with a garden, if there’s the chance. We are also avid cat lovers. We lost our orange and white kitty called Marmalade several years ago. He was the gentlest, finest cat you could ever want. We hope cat sitting will allow us to love on your cats!

What can they bring to the assignment

As stated above, we are keen to take care of your home and hopefully, your kitties too. We love young and mature adult cats, and will wait for them to warm to us, if necessary. The wait is worth it! We’d love to explore your area, whilst meeting the needs of your household daily. We would love to update you often - we’re fairly tech savvy. Respect and care above all.
