Marin County House Sitting while reviewing neighborhoods by mature couple

About this sitter

Susan is a retired environmental health scientist and Jeremy is still working as a physician in Walnut Creek. We are both graduates from UC Berkeley (1986, 1992) and UC Irvine (1991). We are non smokers, do not party, and both very conscientious of others. We cannot sit a house with indoor cats due to allergies and if there are dogs, it has to have at least a bimonthly housekeeper to keep dust/hair down. We have 3 dogs of our own in our Oakland HIlls Home that would be watched by either our adult son or by house sitters from Mind my House of Trusted HouseSitters. Our house is cleaned weekly and we do not wear shoes in the house and we wash our dogs' feet before they come into our home. We wish to experience the Marin neighborhoods while sitting 1) a single family home. 2) on a quiet street with no car exhaust smells nor loud traffic. 3) caring for no more than 4 small dogs or 2 large dogs maximum 4) preferably for a minimum of 2 nights or maximum of 7 nights but we'll consider all offers. We prefer a neighborhood walking distance to open space/trails or to town/restaurants. or to the Marin Tennis Club.

Why they want to house sit

We are looking to retire in Marin County in the next few years when Jeremy retires as the Residency Director at John Muir Medical Center. We wish to experience living in various areas of Marin County to decide where we want to move for our last retirement home.

Their experience

We have stayed in numerous vacation rentals through airbnb and vrbo and home exchange and have had good experiences.
Susan is in particular, a fastidious home maker and has impeccable standards for caring for others' properties as well as her own.

We have raised numerous dogs through our 25+ years of marriage and currently living with 3 lovely dogs who are 11, 11.5 and 4.5 years or age, all rescue dogs. Susan makes home made food, takes them to a holistic vet and have taken out health insurance for each of them.

We are very experienced in caring for dogs and love animals in general. Unfortunately, we are both allergic to cats although they are beautiful creatures also!

What can they bring to the assignment

We are dependable and are home owners so we know how to take care of fine furnishings, not put dirty things like shoes/feet on furniture and keep moisture away from wood furniture. We also have original artwork and a Yamaha concert grand piano, so know to be careful with fragile items.

We LOVE dogs and treat them like our children. We have great respect for nature, animals and the earth in general. We will refrain from using energy unless between 11PM to 7AM for as many things as possible. We refrain from using A/C and heaters no matter where we go for the sake of respecting the dire situation of climate change. We drive electrical cars.
