Hi everyone! Name's Abbey, I'm from NZ but currently travelling around the UK and Europe for a few months.
I lived in a 3 bedroom rental property in Auckland, NZ for 7 years as head tenant, with a very satisfactory relationship with my landlord. We had a garden and a yard, but was unable to have pets due to rental agreements in NZ. I've decided to travel, because if not now, then when!

Because it's my first time to Europe, because am a bit older, or perhaps it's just my personality, I prefer to have a local perspective of places, and if I can, take a little bit of time to get to know places - I also love animals and having a wee friend to come home to :)
So housesitting seemed like a good option for me, and you get to have someone trustworthy look after your place while you're away.
I like win-wins.

Why they want to house sit

Because I'm also an animal lover, my family have lots of pets, having spend a lot of my childhood on my father's farm, I love animals!
I have done a lot of housesitting at home in NZ for cats and dogs so I thought I would try it out while in Europe!

Their experience

Yes, I have two friends I regularly house/dogsit for in NZ about twice a year ( a now two year old schnauzer still going through his training, and a 13 year old West Highland Terrier with allergies) and I also cat and chooksit once a year as well, usually for my sister (they take the dog with them on family holidays).

In the past I've looked after my dad's Samoyed (he is retired now so they are usually joined at the hip), and babysit my sister's mutt (Rhodesian ridgeback/Shar Pei), who is a bit of a bigger and busier breed!

Over here, I have done two catsit jobs in Scotland in apartments, using the Housesittersuk website - one of the references has been added, I have added the website as a link in the relevant location for this.

What can they bring to the assignment

I love animals, I have experience with older animals who have allergies/take medication.

I'm quite laid back, I am a bit of a home body and I enjoy cuddles with animals (if they do!).

I love going for walks with or without dogs, so having a pooch with me is a treat sometimes :)

I'm also conscientious - as I would hate for anything to go wrong with your animal while they are in my care, I make looking after them my first priority, and ensure that I have the info I need, and will contact you (or appointed person, as per your instructions) if there seems to be anything unexpected going on.

- I also know that people miss their animals if away for more than a few days, so I'm happy to send updates and pictures if you would like!

I'll keep your house clean and tidy and make sure that it is just as you left it - if not, hopefully cleaner! Respecting other people's spaces is important to me.

If you'd like to meet beforehand, I'm happy to Whatsapp, phone call, Facebook chat, etc. I may not be in the area, but if I am then I am happy to meet up beforehand at your place, or come a day earlier to get the lay of the land. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
