Slow Traveller Looking For Long Term Sits

About this sitter

An easy going, conscious, and friendly traveller who likes to travel slowly and immerse myself in the cultures I visit. I've been travelling since February 2022, traversing through Europe & South /Central America. Part of conscious slow travel is volunteering in the local communities, and a lot of the time this includes petsitting, childminding or permaculture - all of which have offered me fantastic experiences and treasured memories!

My perfect house sit would be in a home outside of a city/town in nature but not too far away from civilisation. It would last anywhere between 2 weeks and 6 months, and I'm absolutely okay with looking after some furry babies!

Why they want to house sit

As someone embracing slow travel, I love to stay in one place for more than a few days simply ticking off items in the must see list! I prefer to truly live in one place and truly explore the local community. House sitting would allow me to stay in one place long enough to explore in this way whilst also resting and looking after myself - something that is harder to do when you're always on the go!

Their experience

Yes. I have been using Workaway throughout my travels to help people look after their children, pets and homes. My petsitting experience dates back to before my travels, when I used the website mindmydoggy to petsit people's pets whilst they were at work or on holiday. My most recent house sitting experience was in June this year, when I looked after 17 puppies on my own for 2 weeks whilst the owner of the foster home went back to the states for a funeral. That was pretty hard core! But I made it through and showed myself that I can do anything I set my mind to :)

What can they bring to the assignment

My respect for people's homes and animals makes me hyper conscious about cleanliness and doing my utmost best to provide loving care to people's pets and homes. Having owned my own furry baby, a westie called Toby, for just over 15 years, I understand how to truly care for animals and also that they are just like our children, and have a huge place in their owner's hearts.

Before I left my job to travel, I was a project manager - & so skills such as organisation, time efficiency, communication, reliability and accountability are a big part of who I am. I am also reliable and personable, and open to all requests made.
