FAMILY love available for your babies!

About this sitter

We are a family of six people (2 adults, 4 kids: ages 13, 12, 9, and 5). We only travel and sit as a family, so you take all of us or none of us, haha. We are looking to explore more parts of the world and country with our children without the sterile, tourist vibes of hotels. Our kids LOVE animals, especially dogs, but up until this year we weren't able to have a dog due to allergies in my son. Now he has had allergy shots for over two years, so we are clear to branch out more in our animal love. We have our own puppy now, a white West Highland Terrier named Watson, who we can bring with us or leave at home...your preference is honored.

We are looking for a house that can sleep 6 people comfortably, and an animal/animals that would be receptive to respectful children. The only animal we can not sit for is cats, sadly, as there are three people allergic in our family...but when my oldest daughter is old enough she will gladly take ALL your cats and love them forever. :).

We are also looking for animals that won't need us present 100% of the time. We tend to be around for half the day (doing work and school, and playing with the animals), and gone for half exploring, so if your pet would be happy with 50% of our time (and would not be anxious or sad without people present), please keep us in mind.

Why they want to house sit

My husband works remotely from our house, and our children attend a flexible hybrid school that has them online two days a week, and I am just finishing up my stint as a stay at home mom and have not yet returned to work (teaching). This gives us far more flexibility and availability than most people, I am guessing. Because we are now out of the "tiny baby" stage of parenthood we have moved on to our whole family love: Travel! We love to take road trips as a family and have driven to the farthest corners of the United State...other than Alaska. Some of our most favorite road trips have been to California, Oregon, Florida, Washington D.C., the Grand Canyon, and Yellowstone, and Door County.

Our kids have also had to go without animals for a good portion of their lives, and house sitting offers a really fun way to let them experience all kinds of animals (in addition to our dog), including how to care for them properly, without officially adopting the animals as a family.

In short: we want to teach our kids about our amazing world by traveling together as a family, in more organic ways than traditional tourism provides, and caring for all of the animals they could never have growing up. We get how your pets are your babies and your family.

Their experience

I am a 43-year-old (former) teacher, and my husband is a 45-year-old User Experience Director. We own our own home, have our own pet, and grew up with many pets in each of our families. We have not house sat much as a family yet, but we do travel extensively using Home Exchange, and you can read our reviews on there if you are interested. Have we done loads of house sitting? No. Are we incredibly responsible, background checked people? Absolutely.

What can they bring to the assignment

We are GROWN UP ADULTS who are trustworthy, who bring our curious and respectful kids with us when we explore. We aren't college kids looking for cheap travel, we are adults looking to expand the view of the world that our children have, and the animals that they get to meet and love, and that feels like a very significant difference to me.
