Irish Couple Living in Costa Rica!

About this sitter

We are Shane and Aisling, an Irish couple who relocated to Costa Rica at the start of 2023.

We are outdoorsy people - we love to hike, surf, kayak...do anything outside. We have a 4x4 so so have our own transport.

We both work from home, so spend a lot of time there and love to make a space cosy and keep it clean. Work from home is the best when you have the company of pets!

Why they want to house sit

We want to travel Costa Rica and experience the different communities to find where we want to live ourselves.

House sitting is the BEST way we have found to travel Costa Rica, meet people and experience how people really live here.

Their experience

Yes! We have been house sitting full time since April 2023 and will be continuing for the foreseeable future. As we work from home, we are in no rush to find our home so want to travel.

We also both come from families with dogs, cats and rabbits. Before moving to Costa Rica, we lived for three years on a farm in Ireland surrounded by cows, horses and cats.

What can they bring to the assignment

Aisling speaks Spanish fluently, and Shane is learning but is learning very fast! Shane is an engineer so he is very very handy and can build/fix pretty much anything. I think these are very useful skills when it comes to house-sitting, particularly in Costa Rica.

We also work from home, meaning we will be spending the majority of our time in the house and with the pets. We love to cook and always love to make a meal for our host and meet for some time before the sit!
