Fit and healthy mature couple seeking travel and company

About this sitter

I’m a bubbly, friendly lady of 59, married for 40 years to Rob with two grown-up daughters and 3 small grandchildren. I love to keep fit, cook/eat healthily, keep up with friends and family, learn new things and keep busy.

We’re now ready and have time to jump off the holiday track and do some real exploring and learn to live in other places again and if we can do that by helping others do their traveling too, all the better.

Why they want to house sit

We have loved living in Germany in the past and love to travel and now have time to do more as we are semi-retired with flexibility. We enjoy the company of small animals and the bond that is shared between the two. What better way than to combine both to start our new chapter in our lives.

Their experience

We have always, until recently, owned a tropical fish tank and Koi Carp fish pond. Rob has the skills and knowledge to manage a swimming pool.
We care regularly for our daughters' pets (cats and rabbits) and our Mum's two Westie dogs.
We have been homeowners all of our married life and have made significant changes to improve our home and therefore have all the skills that go along with that.

What can they bring to the assignment

I’ve always enjoyed working and have recently retired from a career in education for adults with the local authority. I’ve now re-trained as a Hypnotherapist and Mindfulness teacher and am enjoying helping people make life better for themselves relieving their day-to-day issues. I teach the subject online and this gives me flexibility to enjoy travelling more with my husband.
I love meeting new people and have developed excellent people skills over my years in work as well as managing education centres and teams and all that goes with that.
My husband, Rob, and I have always travelled. He’s ex-RAF and we lived in Germany for many of the years of his service really embracing the different cultures and ensuring we lived and socialised outside of the safety net of the RAF camp. He now works part-time in the Medical Industry as a Medical Sales Consultant.
We are very sociable, always making friends when on holiday and maintaining those friendships and often visiting each other in our respective homes afterwards. We have a wide social group at home.
Between us we have many skills. I speak French and some German and Spanish and love learning. Rob is an electrical electronic engineer by trade and has many DIY skills, he has undertaken many projects in our home and has kept a pond for many years and can manage a hot tub or swimming pool. We both like gardening, we grow vegetables and flowers and keep a tidy home and garden. I have lots of house plants that seem to fare well under my care.
We have lots of experience of looking after small animals such as cats, dogs and rabbits and love the peace and comfort of a cuddle, walking and playing with them, or just watching them go about their day, ensuring they have all they need.
