About this sitter

Tana & Tom are empty nesters (except for dog, Poppy) and love new experiences, adventure, hiking, animals, and staying in houses above hotels. We can work from anywhere and are entering a phase of life where we want to be a bit more spontaneous in our adventures. We are basically home bodies, love a quiet night at "home" (wherever that may be at the time), beautiful surroundings, a good hike, and loyal friends.

Why they want to house sit

We love to travel but also to be "home" so hotels are not our preference. We are open to be in new parts of the country as we can work from anywhere and know that having accommodations covered will open the door to more adventures and to places that we may not think of otherwise. We love animals, are happy to do yard work, and other basic house maintenance chores, care for plants, etc. in exchange for a roof over our heads. Seems like a great match!

Their experience

We have been home owners for over 31 years so know the ins and outs of leaking water heaters, big storms, unexpected appliance breakage, and unusual situations (we raised 4 children - lots of odd things happen with 4 kids!) We also have had a dog for almost 14 years but love cats and other animals too!

What can they bring to the assignment

A calm, loving presence for pets, knowledge and skills about day-to-day house tasks, a level of responsibility and treatment of someone else's home that would be hard to match, a "leave things better than we found them" approach to everywhere we go, and a warm, friendliness. We have a "whatever needs to be done" attitude and jump and help where needed.
