About this sitter

Strong attraction to all kinds of animals have been with me ever since I can remember! As a child, I took care of a duck for years, a stray cat, parakeets that outsmarted me, turtles and chicks. As a young adult I cared for cats, dogs, guinea pigs and a ferret. Later, I found the world of society finches when we rescued an injured one in a pet shop, and rabbits when we rescued one from a backyard breeder! Also nursed two injured wild pigeons until they could fly. I worked for a vet clinic for over a year.
House/pet sitting would appease my need for animal companionship as I am in a rental that is not friendly to my black bunny, Marley, who is now with my daughter.

Why they want to house sit

I have been there! When there was a need to go away but could not because I could not trust just anyone with my babes. And how difficult it was to find someone experienced. A monitoring camera let me see that some sitters charged me but did not show up! I lost a special needs finch to an inexperienced sitter, one who did not call me when bird first went missing!
I have been there! My mission is to provide peace of mind to parents and loving care to their furry/feathered kids!

Their experience

Yes, to many species. Whether they were healthy or ill. I have been through many type of illnesses and know that you focus in behavior to determine if animal is ok. Eating, drinking and stools are some of your tools. Behavior and mood another tool. An animal in pain will decline rapidly, so a watchful eye is paramount. Each animal shows pain in their own way, input from parent on what that is, will be first tool of caring.

What can they bring to the assignment

An enormous amount of empathy and caring. A super focus on each animal companion's needs. An immediate contact with owner/parent when an emergency arises.
