Hello hello!

My name is Mark, I am an ex-university lecturer, originally from the UK, looking to spend another year of adventure before moving back to Edinburgh.

A few of my hobbies:

Cooking, particularly exploring plant-based cuisines, is a passion I've cultivated over the years. I love experimenting with global flavors and infusing the styles of the places I’ve traveled to into my meals.

I love a good wonder. Walking around, exploring, whether in cities or remote areas, with or without a furry companion, has always been the most significant and enjoyable part of travelling for me. Seeing, hearing, and hopefully coming to understand even a bit about how other peoples around the world live, has remained a wonderful experience that continues to motivate me to travel!

Wherever I’ve been and gone, I’ve found that the folk music traditions from around the world have resonated with me deeply. I find joy in their history and the stories they carry, fostering a genuine appreciation for different cultures and their expressions.

Why they want to house sit

I’ve been a man of constant travel and although I am planning to return to the UK, I’m looking to keep an avenue to adventure, a central aspect of my life, open. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed accompanying my sons on a number of their assignments and have come to truly appreciate the spirit of the house-sitting platform. Now I finally have some free time of my own, Im looking to join the community as a sitter!

Their experience

In honesty, the idea of a house-sitting platform is a bit new to me. That said, I have looked after the houses and pets of friends, acquaintances of strangers for decades in multiple continents. As I mentioned, I've joined my sons several times on their 'placements' and have had a blast, they've encouraged me to sign up so that's what I am doing!

What can they bring to the assignment

It goes without saying that your home will be well cared for during my stay. Having brought up two boys, I can say I’ve developed a deep appreciation for clean space, and can assure you that your house will remain in excellent condition upon your return. I’ve had my fair share of house-hold emergencies over the years of course, can now say that I am completely competent in general household/garden maintenance etc

If pets are part of your family, rest assured they'll receive affectionate attention - I have been a pet owner throughout my life and am comfortable caring for animals of all sizes, ages and temperments! It may be that I’ll be working remotely for a few hours a day but in all situations, your house and pets will be my priority!
