About this sitter

Since I am completely new to House Sitting, but think it could be the perfect lifestyle for me, I will have to rely on my many years as a home owner and cat owner. I always wanted a dog, but didn't want to leave it alone for many hours every day, so now that I have the time and the opportunity, I really want to combine my love for animals with the desire to experience new people, places and cultures. I have lived in large houses with large gardens, and have been used to looking after everything myself. I am a skilled handyman, good at electronics, mechanics and engineering, and very orderly and tidy. I would like to help with small projects in your home, painting, small repairs and maintenance. And I will definitely be a perfect match for a family with a sense of quality, beauty, order and security.

Why they want to house sit

After many long and wonderful trips and holidays through a long working life, I now have the opportunity to slow down, immerse myself in a region and culture, and maybe learn the language and meet the locals. I look forward to going for long walks in the company of your dog, or being at home with the cat, taking photos of the landscape and relaxing by maintaining your house and garden. I bring my own car, PC and photo equipment, and would very much like to have long stays of more than a month.

Their experience

On the first of February 2024, I retired after 16 years as a locomotive driver on regional trains in Denmark and Sweden. Before that I worked in the advertising industry, Internet, finance and telecommunications, and I have a master's degree in marketing and business administration from CBS - Copenhagen Business School. I became single two years ago and have four adult children in Copenhagen, London and Oslo. I have always traveled a lot, and want to live as a slow traveler for, at least, the first ten years of my retirement. I have lived in large houses with park-like gardens for many years, and I am very practical and a skilled handyman. I have had cats, but never had the opportunity to keep a dog due to long and changing working hours. Now I have the chance, but I also want to travel, so maybe house sitting will be the perfect lifestyle for me. I am neat, tidy and organized, non-smoker, quiet, likeable and flexible, and hope that I can provide you with an excellent service.

What can they bring to the assignment

On New Year's Day I arranged my very first house sitting and I am very excited. Six weeks, the south of France, fantastic host couple, wonderful dog and cats. It will be my first exam in the house sitting community and I will do my utmost to make it a success. I travel alone in my own car, and look forward to a quiet life in a local culture, lots of home time with the pets and the property, reading, taking photographs and reporting to the host family and my children via social media in the evenings. I don't mess around in the kitchen too much and I don't come to party or vacation in the normal sense. I see house sitting as an opportunity to meet people, pets, cultures and places that I would not have found as a normal tourist, and look forward to being able to give something back for this unique opportunity.
