Long-term housesitter

About this sitter

I have a remote job which offers me the opportunity to be able to work from anywhere in the UK with an Internet connection - and that allows me to steward lovely homes while I visit new areas and get to know the country.
By nature I am a private person, yet friendly, respectful, and personable. I enjoy spending time in nature, immerse into the history of places, and generally at my best when I live in a peaceful place yet not too far from the rest of the world.
Logistics: British citizen, owns car, time flexible, prefer long term.

Why they want to house sit

I like housesitting because it allows me to see great places and get inspired from all the little things that make a house a home, as well as finding the perfect spot to purchase my own corner of the earth someday.
Growing up on a small farm, I was surrounded by nature and animals, and I really miss those connections, so housesitting allows me to tap into those pure relationships. Also, it has equipped me with common sense and it allows me to spot problems and fix them or find help when needed.

Their experience

My experience in housesitting spans over 7 years of helping many beautiful people that trusted me with their home and/or pets.
I have also taken care of pets and houses from 1 week to +1 year, and moving forward I prefer longer house stewardship arrangements.
Also I'm quite knowledgeable about plants, I enjoy basic garden maintenance; I have even revived some almost dead plants, as well as did general gardening and established some veg patches.

What can they bring to the assignment

I am a private, independent and house proud person, so I can provide security with round the clock presence (as I work from home), making the property look lived in and deter unwanted attention.
In addition to the regular tasks of maintaining cleanliness and collecting and managing mail, I do regular property boundary checks, house visual checks internally and externally to spot signs of pest or any weather events, house airing, managing logistics and access for tradesmen and general routine house maintenance.
If pets are involved, I am well versed in managing feeding times, movement and play, cleanliness, administering medication; plus, having my own car allows me to take to the vet if needed.
I keep in regular contact to the home owners, on their preferred schedule, sharing updates with photos, videos etc
My references from previous home owners and pet parents I have house-sat for will put your mind at ease; I understand how worrisome can be to have a stranger come into your house and stay there while you are away... so I am happy to communicate and even meet beforehand if possible.
