About this sitter
We are responsible, caring and adore our animals. We delight in being around our animals as we love them as much as enjoy working outside and meeting wonderful people.
Darrell is a retired engineer and is always tinkering. He and I both love to read making it difficult to leave the house without finishing a chapter. There is not a person we did not like, really!
Why they want to house sit
We love to take care of animals and homes for people and enjoy traveling to different places. We are working on our bucket list and pet and house sitting works great.
Their experience
We have just finished a house sit for some wonderful people their little horse. It was such a great fit, taking care of their gardens. Their horse was a cherry on the cake. I just couldn’t get enough of her. She so enjoyed being fussed over. We would return in a minute when they need us.
Hoping to get to France next year to Chalet sit!
We also are the go to for family and friends when they want their pets and home taken care of from dogs, cats, horses and any other farm animals you could think of.

Friendly, clean and tidy
We chatted online before the sit was arranged. They were both so friendly. They kept in touch before the sit to confirm arrival plans etc. It's such a shame that we didn't get to meet them in person as they took over from friends of ours at the house and headed off early on the day we returned, after agreeing that it was OK to do so. Our friends remarked how super friendly and nice they were. When we returned home we found the house clean and tidy with no issues at all. The cats (which are very timid) were still in evidence and seemed quite content so clearly they'd felt comfortable with Carol and Darryl. Any home owners can rely on them to take care of their home and their pets.

Highly recommended
We loved having Carol and Daryl care for our house and our dog, Molly. They are clearly dog-lovers and walked her 2-3 times a day!. I noticed that Molly actually had better stamina when we returned. The Merchants also cared for our home well, and even did a bit of gardening. We were also happy that enjoyed turning our dining room into a sewing room working on a quilt.

Darryl and Carol Merchant took wonderful care of our house as well as BEYOND exceptional care of our little mini pony in Florida while we were in France. We were beyond delighted to have them at our home in Florida as they both gave us a sense of peace and confidence that our home and pony were both in good hands. Carol enjoyed taking care of our mini pony, spoiling her with treats, attention, and grooming every day, and gave her more love attention than we could have ever expected!! Both Carol and Darrel cared for our home and garden, mowed the fields, weeded the gardens and kept everything tidy and clean. They kept us informed regularly of all that was happening at the house which was great! We absolutely loved having them in Florida and can't wait to have them help out and spend time with them at our home in France in the near future!
