About this sitter
Stopped working now. I walked a neighbour's dog Stella and took her on holiday to Wales for a few weeks while they were abroad or sailing on their yacht. Sadly they took the lovely Stella when moving abroad and her photo is on my profile. Anyone with a Stella dog gets my attention.
Why they want to house sit
I now have plenty of time to help others. I can now enjoy relaxing or energetic times with a friendly dogs/cats as I continue my running activities. As I did with Stella at Broadhaven, or woodland walks, then to a café for chats with each other about a doggy perspective on world issues.
Only one sitting in Manchester so far with a Devon one coming up next month in April 26. On the recommendation of my first sitter, a revisit to Manchester for a family and their two dogs. They are not on this site to leave a review.
Unfortunately, both dogs jumped into a river backflow, where so much debris from recent heavy rains had gathered. They could not escape themselves. Luckily, I was in my running kit, and not heavy coats or clothing, or things could have been very much more tragic. We all got out though. It was a very cold, soaking wet, jog back to the house, for all three of us.

If you are desperate for a sitter, I am more able than many to help you out within the UK, as I am available when I don't have planned occasions like a relative's gathering. I try to update my calendar on here when I can remember for non-availability.
What can they bring to the assignment
I enjoy the company of dogs and cats, having lived with cats for 20 years and seeing them cross over many times. As a child, my first dog was Precious Might Dime of Rosemary, so shouting Precious for many years means no name is too silly. He was a chihuahua with the heart of a lion.
When at others properties, I am very security conscious and accepting of the responsibility to protect such. Observant and will challenge those who appear out of sorts, paying too much attention to properties or indeed pets. Pet theft is still a big problem.

Gavin successfully house-sat for me, for the first time, last year to take care of my 2 cats, as sadly my Boxer dog had passed just before he came. When he saw that I'd had to re-post after being let down at the last minute by this years confirmed house-sitters, he contacted me to offer his services once more, what a super star! He even honoured the house sit despite having injured his knee just before it started. I have a new, 1yr old rescue dog who he hadn't met before. When I explained that he could still be rather wary of strangers, he agreed to start the house sit a few days before I left, to make sure that I could introduce him to Theo properly. I needn't have worried, as Theo took to him straight away. Gavin even slept on the couch with Theo the 1st night that I was away as he was unsettled due to it being the first time that I had left him. Once Gavin was sleeping in his own bed, both my cats joined him on it in the night. My male cat is always keen to join who ever feeds him(!), however, his sister can be very reserved, so for her to join Gavin was indeed a mark of honour. He successfully gave my male cat his tablet medication every day. I came home to 2 happy cats, a happy, well exercised dog and a clean and tidy house.

Fantastic house-sitter
This was the first time we have used a house sitter and with Gavin looking after our energetic Labrador and elderly cat we are converted! Gavin looked after them so well and I think Molly had as good a holiday as we did with lots of lovely long walks and company. The house was also well looked after and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to others or use him again in the future.

House sit 2025
Gavin was due to house sit for my boxer dog and 2 cats for 3 weeks.Sadly, I'd had to have my boxer put to sleep just before he came, so he ended up just looking after my 2 cats. He went on from my house sit to some people that I know, where he house sat for their cats and dogs.He's a keen orienteerer so would be able to cope with the exercise needs of energetic dogs. He wasn't on any social media or WhatsApp so communications were just through email.
