Outdoors and animal-loving remote workers exploring the UK!

About this sitter

Hello! We're Olivia and Jonny. We're a couple who have recently completed our MA degrees at the University of Manchester and are now looking for longer stays with access to stunning natural environments and wildlife after spending two years in a very busy city. We're both documentary filmmakers working remotely and are excited to explore as much of the UK as we can!

Why they want to house sit

Olivia: Originally from the US, I'm now in the UK on a two-year graduate visa after completing my master's degree here. I'm hoping to use the rest of my visa time to explore as much of the UK as possible while working remotely as a filmmaker and NGO communications specialist. I am especially eager to spend time in the lesser-known parts of the country!

Jonny: After spending the past several years in busy university towns, I'm looking for stays which will connect me with the outdoors. I hope to use this time to edit the several creative projects I have in production!

Their experience

Olivia: My longest house sitting experience was for a period of three weeks, spent with two energetic and lovable Bernese Mountain dogs! I am now looking for longer-term house/pet sitting opportunities which will allow me to get to explore local areas in more depth. I have several years of experience caring for dogs, rabbits, and horses (including administering basic medications) as well as some experience with cats, chickens, and fish. I have also looked after gardens, keeping them well-maintained in dry heat and difficult summer temperatures. I was raised by parents who are experts in renovating and maintaining old homes, so am also experienced in basic maintenance and am familiar with the care that original houses require to remain in good condition.

Jonny: I am experienced in caring for dogs, cats, and tortoises - animals I have been around for all my life! I worked part-time in land and garden maintenance over the pandemic and highly enjoy spending time outside.

What can they bring to the assignment

If we've learned anything about ourselves over the past several years (especially between the pandemic and Olivia's move abroad!), it's that a homely environment is incredibly important for one's health and well-being. We both love making spaces cozy and inviting and are extremely tidy, effective communicators, and apt at paying attention to small details. We're willing to put in the time and work necessary to care for your home so that you can return knowing that it is in good shape and ready for you to pick up right where you left off!
