Handy couple to care for home and pets

About this sitter

I am a physical therapist and educator who recently retired from the University of Delaware. My husband has been patiently waiting for me to join him in retirement but has kept very busy renovating a barn on our property and fixing whatever needs attention in our 200+ year old farmhouse. He is amazingly handy! We had 2 dogs over the past 26 years, but our last dog (both Shih Tzus) passed away just before Covid. Knowing we wanted to travel, we decided to hold off on getting a dog. My husband and I are looking to explore the US and Canada and would love the opportunity to stay in your home and care for your pet(s).

Why they want to house sit

We love to travel and enjoy a range of places from the mountains to the beach. We also love to visit our daughters in the Pacific Northwest whenever we can. We are skiers, hikers, kayakers, and enjoy some biking. I love the idea of caring for a person's home with the potential bonus of taking care of a pet. I also look forward to meeting new people on our travels.

Their experience

We have cat and apartment-sat (2 weeks) for our daughter in Seattle. And I have cared for my friend's 3 large dogs for a week.

What can they bring to the assignment

We currently own an old farmhouse and barn on 6.acres. My husband Roger has done all the renovations on both the house and barn. So needless to say, he is a Jack of All Trades! He also takes care of the property which involves a lot. My skills revolve around gardening. However, I did get the chance to apply my PT skills to my last dog. When she was a puppy, she jumped off a chair and dislocated her front leg. I assessed her and then applied some gentle traction and it relocated! She took off playing like nothing happened :)
