Adrian & Zoe - Film Festival Organisers (Previously a landscape gardener)

About this sitter

Adrian and Zoe have been together for twenty eight years, we are keen cyclists and walkers but our passion is worldwide travel and adventure. We've been lucky, we've had the chance to travel through about 40 countries. Including places in Africa, India, S.E Asia, Australia, New Zealand, the USA, Mexico, Central America and South America, but now we're keen to come and explore your region.

We are the founders of Bolton International Film Festival, a BAFTA and BIFA qualifying short film festival held annually in October. The rest of the year we are able to work remotely watching the films entered into the festival. The only thing we require from a homeowner is a reasonable internet connection to watch the films. We also like to garden and we love pets and animals. Happy to do some basic DIY if the need arises.

Why they want to house sit

We started the film festival eight years ago and bought a house at the same time. Now our house is paid for and we want to get back to our passion, the sense of adventure and exploring different regions in the world. That said, we are older now and the days are gone where we'd take overnight buses and trains from one end of the country to the other. Now we prefer to stay in one area and explore the area more slowly. We love gardening and we love animals, so we regularly look after our friends houses and pets when they go on holiday.

Their experience

We've never done housesitting for strangers, but we have done it for friends many times. We do regularly use AirBnB on our travels so you can check out our reviews from home owners in the photos (attached).

What can they bring to the assignment

Adrian was a professional landscape gardener for many years as it was a job that worked well with his filmmaking. He worked on a farm for many years looking after the horses, the land and fixing fencing, land drains, keeping the garden nice etc. He is not a horse rider but does know how to muck out a stable properly and tend to the horses welfare. He was accompanied on the farm by two labradors each day which he loved dearly.

Zoe and Adrian have an allotment (rented land where we grow vegetables). When we got the land it was in a terrible mess but now it something very special. We share the vegetables with our neighbours because we always grow too much :)
