About this sitter
I'm a 66 year old, single, retired small-town lawyer, currently no pets of my own, non-smoker and fully vaccinated and boosted. When I meet new cats and dogs, I usually offer a gentle ear massage, which is most often GREATLY enjoyed, right away by dogs and by cats, well, whenever they decide they're darned good and ready! Dogs often warm up to me quickly, while cats get the space they need to come around on their own terms. I’m happy to provide regular updates and photos for peace of mind. In a house sit, I’m looking for a welcoming home, clear communication, and the opportunity to provide dependable, thoughtful care for your pets and property.

I really enjoy the travel aspect of pet/house sitting and spending time in new places. Like many I suppose, I’m trying my best to make up for all the travel none of us were able to enjoy for a couple of years there. And to have your efforts be rewarded throughout the day with an appreciative tail wag or contented cat lap-nap, is simply the best.

Exceptional pet sitter
Paul is an exceptional pet sitter (as others have written). We particularly appreciated the clear communication and the fantastic photos he took of our kitties. He took excellent care of the house and our plants as well. What we found particularly kind was that he left us food in the fridge to facilitate our reentry from a long international flight. we would have Paul back in a heartbeat.

Paul is amazing
Paul is amazing. He cared for our house and our dog for 3 weeks. He sent daily photos of our dog, communicated well, took care of the yard and watering. He really went above and beyond in all ways. If you are lucky enough to get a chance to have Paul take care of things while you are away, grab the chance. We would love to have him again.

5 STARS aren't nearly enough for Paul!! If Paul applies for your sit, book him ASAP! We felt comfortable with him from our first video chat. Paul visited the day before we left for our six week trip. We enjoyed talking with Paul over dinner and felt as though we were entrusting our home to a friend. Paul was incredibly organized and had a notebook filled with questions to ask about every aspect of our home. Sadly, our sweet dogs are no longer with us, so Paul didn't have to care for pets. We know that he would have loved them dearly though. Instead, he carefully tended to our indoor plants and our gardens outdoors. He weeded our large garden beds and even thoroughly cleaned our garage door! Paul was an excellent communicator and sent photos of the lawn where we recently planted new seed to keep us updated on the growth progress. He notified us when packages arrived and even texted photos of such. Paul deftly handled anything that came up with the house. A couple of days before we arrived home, Paul sent us an "end-of-sit update" in which he listed everything he did and handled during his sit. He even changed the HVAC filter before we returned home. We requested advice from Paul about pet and house sitting and he offered helpful insight since he is so experienced. We returned to a PRISTINE home! How lovely! But wait!!! There was a generous gift for us with a Welcome Home note AND a refrigerator filled with fresh breakfast foods, which was so wonderful since we arrived home late evening! Paul was so generous and thoughtful and we appreciate him so much. There are not enough superlatives to express our deep appreciation for him. We feel as though we've made a great new friend and would love for Paul to house/pet sit for us every time we travel. If you are lucky enough to snag him, do it!

Exceptional sitter
Paul was an exceptional sitter! He was a perfect communicator, took gorgeous photos of my pets daily and gave very detailed updates. I came home and my house was so well taken care of and my pups were all happy. I highly recommend Paul!

Incredible
This is our second review for Paul; he was SO incredible on his first visit, we quickly invited him to make a return and were elated that he agreed! It can be hard to find new material when writing a follow-up review… NOT so in this case! The good news is, our 15-year-old cat brother-&-sister pair were just fine, thanks to Paul’s great care and attention. The bad news is, the “House Gremlins” were running amok! Paul deftly handled 1) a failed back-up refrigerator, 2) a wounded HVAC system, and 3) a malfunctioning on-demand hot water system… 3 failures in under 3 weeks!?! The BEST news is, we had Paul! His vigilance to all aspects/functions of the house meant he quickly detected trouble. He reported each incident calmly, using WhatsApp to clearly describe the issue and provide all the info we needed to help us make decisions. He even smartly used the voice call option of WhatsApp to conference with us when needed (while in the middle of the Atlantic). This was extensive extra effort for Paul, but he took it all in stride! We returned home to a VERY tidy house, two very contented kitties, and any/all required repair appointments already scheduled. Despite the house “Yips” during this trip, we certainly hope Paul will consider a future sit again for us. Paul is thorough, thoughtful, kind and caring… if he applies for your sit, consider yourself fortunate and sign him up!

Simply the BEST
Paul is simply the BEST! He was outstanding in every category that makes for a fantastic sitter… great communication, incredibly organized, 110% reliable, and most importantly, a true pet lover and dedicated care-giver for our aging sibling kitties, Smitty & Wesson. Smitty is the skittish one, but she warmed to Paul in record time and the pictures he sent of them during our 3-week absence… they are nothing short of professional grade and we’ll be using them for their “glamour shots” in short order! Our house has a lot of moving parts, but Paul stepped in with a smooth, seamless transfer and handled everything without missing a beat. We live in Hurricane territory and both Helene and Milton were threatening before/during the sit… but Paul never even flinched! Thankfully neither storm made a direct hit in our area, but I was amazed when we returned to find the pool & yard looking like nothing at all had happened… I know from experience that doesn’t happen without a LOT of pick-up effort! Thanks Paul!! We returned home to a spotless house, a very nice Thank You card and a thoughtful gift. You just cannot go wrong with Paul… if he applies for your sit, sign him up ASAP!

From my first interaction on the phone, to the moment Paul entered our home, I felt completely at ease leaving my home and pets in his care. He was well prepared, having read our welcome guide before arriving, and came armed with questions to ensure he was well prepared to take care of our pampered pets. He proved himself extremely professional, reliable, and clearly loves animals. Throughout Paul’s stay, he went above and beyond to ensure that our pets were not only well taken care of but truly loved and engaged. Our dog, Lucy and can be a little shy, but she immediately warmed up to Paul which speaks volumes about his gentle and calming demeanor. It was clear when I returned that our pets were happy, well-fed, and had received plenty of attention. Not only did Paul do an amazing job with the pets, but they also took great care of the house. Everything was clean and organized when I got home, and he had even watered the plants that morning. He kept in touch while I was gone, sending regular updates and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. Overall, I was incredibly grateful for Paul’s exceptional sit. I would absolutely have Paul come back in the future and I highly recommend Paul to anyone looking for a trustworthy, kind, caring, and responsible house and pet sitter!

Piece of mind
Like others with animals, having a piece of mind when leaving them is the most important part when travelling. Paul applied for our most recent sit and when he posted under his picture “Enjoy your trip, I’ll look after things at home”, he sincerely meant it. His thoroughness and genuine nature was evident when first we met. So upbeat and positive. Johnny Boy and Mattie Mae took to him immediately and in no time they were best friends. We received pictures every day. I now have a wonderful portfolio of my kitties. When Paul arrived he had a list of questions ready in the event we didn’t address them when going through our house requirements (inside & outside). We left feeling as though we were leaving our pets and home in the hands of an old friend. Paul is kind and thoughtful. Everything was in tip-top shape when we arrived home. Happy kitties, clean house, laundered sheets & towels, bed remade, plants alive (inside & outside) and he even left us with a frig stocked with breakfast foods. After driving for 2 days, that was such a pleasant surprise to come home to. In this time of uncertainness and worldly chaos, it warms your heart to know there are still souls who care about how they treat others and want to make a difference. We highly recommend Paul for your sitter not only because of his experience but because he’s the person you would want to take care of your pets and home. Highly recommend
I couldn’t believe how smoothly things went with Paul. He arranged a pre-sit phone call and visit to discuss questions and general home orientation. We received updates and photos of our pet regularly, and returned to our home looking like it had been professionally cleaned. He even stocked the fridge for us, which was so thoughtful. I would highly recommend Paul to anyone needing a sitter.

Would love to have Paul sit for us again
We are sitters ourselves but had never had a sitter for our own home and three cats until now. Our biggest concern was that one of our cats, Tee, is very skittish when anyone new comes into the house. Once when some friends came to visit over a weekend, he hid behind the dryer for three days until they left. Also, we have a 17 year old cat, Lil, who is in declining health and gets sick and won’t eat if he gets stressed. We selected Paul for this challenge based on his spectacular reviews and were not disappointed. In fact, we were thrilled by how well everything went. Within a few days, not only was Tee out and about eating with the other cats, Paul had him sleeping in his lap! Paul sent pictures every day so we could see that Lil and the gang were happy and comfortable. Paul went above and beyond the call of duty in taking care of the house. Another concern we had before the sit was that I have celiac disease and therefore don’t allow any products containing gluten into our home. Paul was very conscientious of this and did research to ensure he kept the hose free of gluten. And if all that was not enough, Paul helped out a neighbor, fixed a problem with our garden watering system, fed the wild birds who eat out of multiple feeders, and left the house spotless. We thought we were great house sitters and have always received 5-star reviews but after Paul, we decided we need to up our game! As you may have guessed, we would love to have Paul sit for us again.

Welcome back anytime
Paul was everything that his reviews said he was! He’s a gentle soul who truly loves animals and takes such great photos of your pet into the bargain. He agreed to arrive a day early and sat down to a family meal with all of us that night. The fam are our nearest neighbors so it was great that he met them all as added backup while we were gone. We were able to show him all the things and do a walk through of the house. He and Ellie bonded the minute he stepped out of his vehicle. It was incredible. He sent regular photos without bombarding us. When we returned the house was spick and span and he’d even left us a welcome home starter kit of groceries!! Paul knows he is welcome back anytime !

Paul sets the gold standard for house sitters! From the moment I met him, his warmth and friendliness assured me that he would excel, and he truly did. His communication skills are outstanding, always prompt and clear. His photography is exceptional; he sent us delightful daily pictures of our kitty. Upon our return, we found the house even cleaner than we left it. His thoughtful gesture of leaving a thank you note and some treats in the fridge was incredibly kind. A great first experience
Paul was our first house sitter and what a great first experience! Paul took such good care of our beloved cat, including an unexpected trip to the vet. That was no small feat for a vet phobic cat. His communication, during that event, and throughout his stay was perfect. We got great pictures of the cat each day. Paul even fed an overwintering hummingbird for us. It is not usual for us to have hummingbirds in the winter, and I had been feeding this one for a while. I hesitated to ask Paul to feed the winter visitor, but he was game and provided the premade nectar regularly and even sent video of the hummingbird. Paul kept the house in great condition and it was very clean when we returned. I have absolutely no hesitation about giving Paul a whole hearted recommendation.

Awesome sitter
In a nutshell, everything you've read about Paul is true - he's a super-nice person and an awesome sitter. He obviously enjoyed his time with our two senior kitties and definitely captured their quirky personalities in his daily photos. Paul was very self-reliant and very easy-going - we had a burst of unusually frigid weather and snow during his stay, and it didnt seem to faze him one bit. We returned home to a clean house (he brings his own sheets and towels) and mellow kitties and would definitely welcome Paul back any time.

Wonderful sitter
Paul is a wonderful sitter and a super nice guy! Gypsy, our rescue border collie. seemed to do just great with Paul and he kept us updated daily with the best pictures we have even seen of her! He is the best pet/housesitter we have even used, and we've used many from various sources. Paul is a kind, considerate, gentle man and we, and Gypsy, would welcome him any time. By the way, our cleaner came on his first day here, and 11 days later, when we got home, the house looked as if they had just left!

Incredible house and pet sitter
Paul is a incredible house and pet sitter. Our dogs were well loved and cared for. They were happy and had more attention than usual. We were so fortunate to have Paul sit, he sent us daily pet pictures and gave day to day updates. We also believe Paul is a dog whisperer.... Our problem child pet has stopped her naughty jumping with his guidance. He left our house spotless and plants well cared for. We hope to have Paul pet sit our next vacation. Wonderful
I could go on and on about how wonderful Paul is, but if he applies for your sit, do not look any further, accept him right away! He is reliable, kind, caring, thorough and communicative. Paul has a very calm demeanor that immediately put our dogs at ease upon his meet and greet the day before we left. He watched our two pups and home while we were very far away from home for 6 days and we never worried once! So grateful
We just returned from a 13 day trip and had Paul stay at our house. Paul was amazing- just like other reviews have said. He came the day before we left and took notes on all the little things that are particular to our home. The best part was the way he flowed with the situation when the day before our departure, our washing machine broke and our new dishwasher was not installed properly and could not be used. Paul did not blink an eye at these last minute inconveniences, just went with the flow. We were so grateful to him. The house was left in great condition and he even left a basket of fruit and thank you note. Thank you Paul- yes, grab him if he shows up on your application.
