About this sitter

We're a couple, non-smoking, 41 & 48 years old. We work online (web & graphic design, programming, systems administration). We know Spanish & English very well (10+ years living in Spain, 10+ in Ireland).

Our main goal is to take care of kitties while their owners are away and make them feel safe and loved.

Why they want to house sit

Home-sitting is for us primarily a way to have contact with cats (which we can't own because of travels), live in various places, and meet new people.

What can they bring to the assignment

We are very passionate about cats and especially their well-being. We love to spend time with them - observe and learn their habits to find the most engaging ways to play, and best ways to make them feel happy and comfortable. That results in developing a great contact with them and we get lots of cuddling as a reward :)

We also observe their health, take them to the vet if needed and give them recommended medications. We have a lot of experience with giving various treatments to cats - with empathy and without stressing them. All animals that needed any treatment improved during our stay. For instance:
* We took care of a cat with skin cancer who required regular application of creams and aloe vera (with hands, as it was very delicate).
* We gave antibiotics to a cat that lost a tooth (because of her age), and had a painful inflammation (this required multiple trips to the vet).
* Multiple treatments (eg: infection of both ears) and vet visits for a 3 weeks old kitty that we rescued and then found a great home for.
* Various anti-parasite treatments.

During our stay, we take a lot of artistic photos of the kitties. We make sure that the owners get new photos and updates every day, which the owners enjoy very much. * We have experience with solar installations, swimming pool maintenance, watering systems and plant care.
* We have experience with gardening work, and don't have any problem with doing what's needed.
* Our biggest group of cats to take care at the same time was 11.
* We stay at home during most of the working days - because we work - so no problem with accepting deliveries, etc.
* During our stay we never leave for the night - it's not a vacation for us, we simply live in Spain for 9-10 months every year.
* We live mainly in rural areas and at the edges of small towns - definitely enjoy rural life and as much nature as possible, far from cities.
* We've met multiple gardeners, builders and other maintenance workers during our stays, no problem with maintaining contact with them, even when they had a particularly strong Andalusian accent ;-)
