About this sitter
I am an active nature lover. My interested include hiking, camping, paddle boarding, birdwatching, and gardening. I am interested in meeting people and exploring cultures, landscapes while providing confidence for you that your pets and home are in good hands while you travel.
Why they want to house sit
The opportunity to stay in a home setting with furry companions for a period of time is so ideal for me and provides the opportunity to connect with community and land. I love animals, their individuality and am skilled at intuiting their needs and making them comfortable.
Their experience
I have been a home and pet guardian/owner for 30 plus years. I love to garden and am skillful with house care. I am new to this sight, but have provided care for others homes and pets over the years while they travel. I have worked on a sheep farm as a midwife during lambing seasons and absolutely love farm animals. My medical background comes in handy when caring for all critters.

So grateful to have Joan at our home♡
We feel so fortunate that Joan was available for our 12-day house sit. She was communicative and organized from when we first reached out many months beforehand, and throughout the entire stay. Our home and property is quirky and requires lots of unique maintenance, and Joan was up to the task of it all, asked the right questions, and problem-solved when issues arose. Most of all we were so thankful she was there at a difficult time when two days before we left, we discovered our senior dog's cancer had returned. Joan was so compassionate with her and kept us up to date constantly. Even though we didn't expect our dog to decline that quickly, Joan offered to call and take her to the vet for an emergency treatment when things took a turn for the worse, which allowed us to not have to fly back early. She certainly went above and beyond for us and our sweet dog, in a way that I would never expect of a house sitter. Joan managed the recovery of our dog after treatment, giving her the prescribed medications and our sweet Zeva seemed so much better than I imagined when we returned. We know not all house sitters would have gone so above and beyond like this, which shows how compassionate, caring, and capable Joan is, and I wish she could sit for us every time we leave! It goes without saying we would recommend her in a heartbeat :) Thank you, Joan, for being here for us and our dogs at this difficult time🤍

Quiet Lovely Lady
Joan was a perfect house sitter. She stayed at my house for about 2 weeks in March 2025. She took great care for my dog and cat, she got along with all my neighbours, she kept the house clean and was a champ having experienced an earthquake, a power outage and cold water showers while staying here. She stayed in touch throughout, and was never needy, nor complaintative. Joan is really chill, and I definitely recommend her for others and would have her back to my house any time.
