About this sitter

We are a fun loving and nomadic couple looking to explore as much of the UK as we can with our little doggie Charlie. Charmaine works remotely and Matt is a writer, therefore we can work anywhere that has decent 4G or5G. We have a router with a SIM that allows us to bring our WIFI with us, so as long as there is a tower, WIFI at the property isn't required. We've been married for 14 1/2 years, living for the first part of our marriage in Seattle (where Charmaine is from) and now living in the UK (where Matt is from). We love and appreciate both rural and city locations, although we tend to enjoy the quiet locales that offer nice walks, bird watching, and collecting sea glass. Neither of us drink or smoke and like to keep a very tidy and clean home. In a previous lives, Charmaine cleaned houses and was also a chef in a restaurant so the cleanliness practice is firmly ingrained! We are both avid readers and writers and spend our time writing poetry and short stories, with a dream of being published one day. Charmaine is also a yoga teacher, Reiki Master, and crystal healer, although her current profession is in finance :)
Coming back to the UK, we were living in Cambridge however, a serious issue with the sewage in the property we were renting saw us see out our summer in our chalet in Norfolk. The site closes from Nov-March so we decided to rent an Air BnB on the Isle of Bute for the winter.
Now that we're back in Norfolk for the summer, our calendar is free and we're ready to sit!
Although new to Trusted Housesitters, we have a lot of experience sitting houses for friends and families. Also, our stellar rating on Air BnB shows just how serious we take our stewardship of other people's properties!

Why they want to house sit

Charmaine spent 25+ years commuting into the city of Seattle for work and is enjoying the luxury of being able to work anywhere in the world. It's giving her a chance to live our her dreams and see as much of the UK as she can while writing down her adventures in a memoir she hopes to publish someday.
Because Matt is a writer, various locales provide the muse he needs to write and reflect on his words .He also enjoys the spirit of adventure and meeting new people and seeing new things.
We both feel it's important to live and travel as much as we can while we're still young enough to do it.
House sitting provides the perfect opportunity for us to see the world, meet new people, and enjoy different places and neighborhoods we may not otherwise see.

Their experience

Throughout our lives, we've always been the friends who house and dogsit for people.
Because we're so clean and quiet and keep to ourselves, people always ask us back.
The gentleman who owns the Air BnB we're staying in has thanked us for keeping his flat in such clean and well kept condition. We're very house proud and feel that an uncluttered and clean area leads to a quiet and uncluttered mind :)
We don't have any references yet as we're just starting out, but can be made available upon request as we build our history here.
Because of Charmaine's varied working history cleaning houses, running a restaurant, landscaping, construction/carpentry, being a barista, and working in a butcher shop, she is able to translate those experiences into many different areas of assignment. She also grew up living on a sailboat and knows how to tie many kinds of knots ;)

What can they bring to the assignment

As noted above, we are a very clean and tidy couple. The things we enjoy in life are beautiful walks in nature, yoga, good food, meditation, reading, writing, and crafting. We are very friendly and endeavor to bring love and good vibes into any space we occupy. We have respect for other people and their property and treat it like our own. We don't drink or smoke and appreciate natural idylls of stillness to quiet our minds.
We are very responsible, mindful of neighbors, and love the simplest things in life. As long as we have each other, we don't need a lot. As we've gotten older, we just love the simple pleasures.
