About this sitter
We - Lorna 38, Matt 42 - are both from the UK. Lorna is an academic and is able to work from home a lot of the time, and Matt is currently a civil servant but is looking to retrain to be able to work remotely as a data analyst. We both grew up with pets - Matt with cats, Lorna with dogs and rabbits - but have not been able to commit to having our own pets due to living arrangements and work commitments. But we both love spending time with animals! Lorna used to horse ride a lot as a child, and likes taking care of farm animals.
We are open to short sits in the UK and Europe, and also longer sits in the US and central and South America from November 2025.
We are very happy to look after any animals, but are most used to cats, dogs and rabbits. We are keen to spend some time more rurally, so would be very open to more hands on experience with chickens, pigs, sheep etc.
Why they want to house sit
We are looking to do some travelling and to have the opportunity to stay in places we wouldn't usually get to see. We are both very well travelled, but staying in communities and housing offers a different view of an area that we both cherish.
Their experience
In June 2025 we completed our first house and cat sit together in France in a rural community. Lorna has quite a lot of experience housesitting in Europe and Asia from her 20s. She looked after cats, dogs and donkeys. We both have experience of house and pet sitting for family and friends in the UK and can provide references. We have both also had our own pets. We also have an allotment and many houseplants, so we can also care for your plant life!
What can they bring to the assignment
We are both pretty relaxed and unfazed by tough situations. We will be hands on - we are happy to help out however we can. We are also reliable, we are looking for a chance to relax, work remotely, and see different ways of life.
We have a car and are both confident drive in rural locations, and we love walking and cycling too. Both of us speak some French and Spanish, and a little German.

Like having your family to stay!
We spent just 1 night with Lorna & Matt but departed the following morning,for our 3 week trip, feeling that we had left our beloved, very old & needy cat Rosie with family. Unfortunately we had lost Bobbie (who was also 19) before the house sit began and our main concern was that Rosie was very confused, disorientated and becoming very unpredictable in her habits (eating, toileting, sleeping and venturing outdoors). But thankfully, this adorable couple soothed our anxiety within minutes of arriving at our home and made us feel reassured and content to leave our home and Rosie in their capable, kind & loving hands. Lorna & Matt are unique we believe in the way they are able to 'blend' effortlessly into your home life and your community (which is important to those of us who regularly have house sitters to stay). Our evening together was spent at our Community Hall with friends & neighbours and they were amazing! They were such fun and had a zest for life which endeared them to everyone. They are both outgoing, with strong, positive and independent characters, great values for a housesitter. They adapt to your animals' daily routines, yet remain flexible, thoughtful and considerate of the changing needs of 'especially' a sick and elderly animal. We have since lost Rosie and have no more animals or housesits planned for the future but would welcome Lorna & Matt as friends should they ever venture this way. We highly recommend them to anyone seeking a young couple to look after their animal(s).
