Hi! My name is Leah :) I am a freelance copywriter who has been traveling and enjoying a nomadic lifestyle for 2 years. I have been enjoying another platform designed for pet and housesitting, but wanted to connect with people here as well!

When considering housesits, I often look for ones that allow me to rest and write and maintain a regular rhythm. Longer housesits (3+ weeks) are often my preferences, as they allow me to settle in and establish a rhythm.

Why they want to house sit

It goes without saying that being in a home is a more authentic experience while traveling, providing space to cook proper meals, meet neighbors, and enjoy the rhythms of everyday existence. In my experience, housesitting is the best way to get an accurate representation of a community and city, not to mention a wonderful way to make new friends and spend time with beloved pets.

Being with animals provides a deep sense of peace while traveling. I enjoy petsitting because being with a loyal animal creates a feeling of home. Animals are experts at routine: they get up at the same time, look for food, need a walk, take a nap, eat again, walk again, etc. They are consistent, plus offer wonderful companionship while alone in new places.

It would be an honor to care for your animals and home while you travel. I understand how hard it is to leave your space and animals in the hands of a stranger, so my aim is to make that process much easier and more relaxed.

Their experience

I have been pet and housesitting for 2 years now on another platform (I have accumulated 12+ reviews there), but have been pet sitting privately for over a decade for friends and family.

I've spent time with larger, high energy dogs like golden retrievers and shepherds, as well as small dogs with big personalities. Regardless of type, I always make sure they get lots of exercise and are mentally stimulated. Dealing with anything from separation anxiety, aggression towards other dogs, and medical issues, I am comfortable managing dietary needs, unique personalities, or vet visits.

My priority is that they have fun, maintain routine and are feeling loved! Of course, your well-being is also essential, so I love sending photo & video updates to ensure hosts are able to relax while away.

My longest housesit to date was two months in Mexico City watching two dogs and a large property. The dogs required medication, a mindful approach to walking (they didn't enjoying interacting with other dogs), and lots of play time. One of the dogs even needed me to hand feed him sometimes - he was a little spoiled, that one.

1 month in Saskatoon with a cat with anxiety and aggression (we were great pals in the end!)
1 month in Lisbon with a 9 month dachshund who couldn't be left for more than an hour (he went everywhere with me!)
2 weeks in Los Angeles caring for three chickens
1 month in Sacramento watching two small dogs, chickens, and a large garden
2 weeks in Vancouver with two energetic dogs with poor leash behaviour, who required 3 daily walks
4 weeks in San Jose with three very shy cats
5 weeks in Ajijic watering plants daily

I am a structured, organized person who enjoys keeping things in a sustainable rhythm. When it comes to pets, they will have the attention they deserve and maintain a good routine.

I was a hotel housekeeper years ago, which means I’ll leave your place better than I found it. On another platform, all of my reviews mention how clean I am - that's something I take great pride in! I will always wash bedding, sheets and towels in addition to cleaning your space properly. After a trip away, it’s important to return to a space that’s ready for you!

I have lots of experience with plants, both indoor and outdoor, and consider myself attentive to nature and the space around me.
