About this sitter
I've been a writer and journalist for over 30 years, and have lived for over a year on every continent (except the penguin one.) I love going to different places, small towns in America, huge cities in Europe or Asia, everywhere has its own charms.
Why they want to house sit
I love travel and I love animals, so it makes perfect sense.
Their experience
I've been doing this on and off since 2013. I reckon I've got about 100 pet sits under my belt at this point.
What can they bring to the assignment
First and foremost, reliability. Of all the petsitting I've done, I can contact virtually all of them for a reference. I worked as a maintenance man in NC for several years, so I can fix things. I'm great with dogs and cats.

We had Iain sit our one-year-old labradoodle for a week, and Iain's responsiveness and previous experience gave us confidence early on that he'd be great to watch Callie and look after our plants while we were gone. As an adolescent, we're still working with Callie on a few things (like not getting too excited and pouncing on other dogs when they walk by), and Iain wasn't intimidated to look after her and kept calm when she barked when he arrived (new people in the house are the other thing she struggles with). He was also willing to adjust her walk schedule around bonfire night, so that he & Callie could avoid being too near to fireworks, which she found upsetting. Any time Iain had a question, he would whatsapp us & was happy to send pictures so we could see how they were getting on. We'd have Iain back to sit any time :)

Iain is a very calm and kind person. He took excellent care of my dog. My dog felt at ease with Iain after a few days of settling in. He had no problems administring eye drops twice a day. Great experience -
Ian took exceptionally good care of Henry, the 5 year old mixed Lab and my home in South Philadelphia. During a pretty challenging time of high heat and complicated by a garbage strike in the city. I would definitely recommend his care to anyone on this site, and hope that he will return next year to do the same. In better weather!

Easy to communicate with & very responsive
Iain is very easy to communicate with & very responsive to messages. He was also flexible with arrival/departure times to meet our needs including a pre-meet request to ensure the arrangement was suitable for us all. The initial visit & dog walk gave us the confidence that Iain could manage our quirky hounds without issue. Most importantly our dogs were well cared for whilst we were away, which gave us great peace of mind. I would have preferred a few more updates during the sit, but I hadn’t specifically requested that, so something for future consideration.. I have no hesitation in recommending Iain to any one looking for a reliable and capable sitter.

Ian was absolutely great
Ian was absolutely great. He seemed to get on very well with Mycroft and looked after him brilliantly. Ian kept in touch and mentioned some concern about Mycroft’s excessive water drinking, but all seemed perfectly well on my return. My dog is quite needy, but Ian seems to cope with that ok. The house was left clean and tidy. Happy to recommend Ian and have him sit for me/Mycroft again if he is available.

The perfect sitter
Iain was the perfect sitter. Dolly is looking quite lovelorn missing her special friend. Dolly loves quiet company and that's exactly what she got. We returned to an immaculate house and the communication was excellent. We hope Iain can come and house sit for us again. Thank you Iain.

Iain was great, he arrived a day early to get to meet our animals and go through all that we needed to show him. He kept in touch over the time we were away and sent us pictures of the cat. We came back to a lovely clean house and a very happy pet
