About this sitter

Charlotte: I’m in my thirties and have been a freelance engineer/writer for five years. I grew up surrounded by cats and have been in awe of them since childhood—their presence just releases dopamine in my brain. I also appreciate the company of other animals and am committed to fighting for their rights and opposing any form of exploitation.

Jean: I’m in my sixties and recently retired! I started my career at the Faculty of Arts as a librarian and then worked at Besançon Court of Justice for twenty-one years. I’ve lived with cats and dogs since childhood. When I was thirty, I renovated an old farmhouse where my family and I lived for about twenty years, welcoming several cats, two dogs, and two goats. I love all that’s living and have quite a bit of experience in gardening and woodcutting.

Why they want to house sit

Since Jean retired, we’ve been traveling a lot in our van, splitting our time between France, Spain, Portugal, and Ireland. We enjoy alternating between camping trips and quieter, more sedentary periods during which we rent cottages and do pet sitting. We both love animals, especially cats and dogs: when we finish traveling and settle down somewhere they will be a big part of our lives, for sure. For now, we enjoy the company of the pets of our friends and family, for whom we regularly do long-term pet sitting during holiday periods. We’d like to continue doing this even though we’ve left our hometown, which is why we’ve joined this platform.

Their experience

We both grew up surrounded by animals and regularly do pet sitting for friends and families. We also occasionally did it for colleagues or friends of our friends.

What can they bring to the assignment

We are both calm by nature, spending a lot of time playing chess, reading, and writing. We also enjoy playing with and cuddling animals, but we don’t force things and respect their space—we let them come to us instead of the other way around. Otherwise, we also know how to keep a house clean and secure, and water plants.
