My husband and I are recently retired and live in the Midwest. The last two summers we have driven our van all over the west. My husband finished the entire inside of the van from a mere shell. We are free to go and do as we wish. We love hiking and the great outdoors. We love all animals and welcome new experiences.

Why they want to house sit

Housesitting would give us the much needed break from being on the road. It would give us a chance to relax and see areas of the country we would normally just pass through on our way to the next forest or park. We feel we would be excellent candidates for house sitting with our many years of different life experiences. We are also very self conscious of our actions and how they may affect others.

Their experience

We have owned our home for over 45 years. We are the second owners of a vintage home built in 1928. My husband has done all the updates and repairs when needed. He has updated our kitchen and baths from top to bottom, including electric and heated floors. He loves to landscape and garden. A few times he has put a stick in the ground and it grew, no kidding! I call him Macgiver because he can fix anything. We have been married for 38 years and that in itself says a lot. We have owned 2 dogs during our marriage, as well as birds, bunnies and guinea pigs when our kids were young. I worked in our local school for over 20 years as an admin assistant and I am very organized. Before I had children I worked for a plant company taking care of plants in corporate offices and malls.

What can they bring to the assignment

We can bring overall peace of mind when we are house, plant and pet sitting. My husband was a
licensed plumber for 35 years. We own a hot tub and know what it takes too maintain a pool. You can leave knowing if your home has any problems he will be right on it. A quick story. When my daughter was getting married the outdoor venue was an old settlement village with cabins throughout. He noticed that some of the lights that were suppose to light the walkways were not working. He was concerned about the drinking and potential for falls. He notified the office and they said they could not fix them in time. He asked for tools and a ladder to reach the lights. He ended up fixing the entire lot of them just hours before the wedding. We went back to our VRBO to shower and the shower head fell off. He fixed that as well. We are firm believers in karma and paying it forward so he did not charge the venue or the owner of the house. We can get bonded or provide personal references from neighbors and coworkers on request. We also have a 5 year old sweet maltipoo that goes everywhere with us. She is well trained and gets along well with other animals and people. My son has two big dogs and she plays and keeps up with them when visiting and hiking in Colorado .She has probably been to more national parks than most people :)
