About this sitter

My husband and I are recently retired and live in the Midwest. The past two summers we have driven our van all over the west. My husband customized the entire inside of the van from a mere shell. We are free to go and do as we wish which makes life exciting! We love hiking, biking, kayaking and the great outdoors. We love all animals and welcome new experiences.

Why they want to house sit

Housesitting would give us a much needed break from being on the road. It would give us a chance to relax and see areas of the country we would normally just pass through on our way to the next forest or park. We feel we would be excellent candidates for house sitting with our many years of various life experiences. We are honest, reliable and take pride in everything we do.

Their experience

We have owned the same home for over 45 years. We are the second owners of a vintage home built in 1928. My husband is a retired plumber and has done all the updates and repairs in our home. This includes our kitchen and baths, from top to bottom, including electric and heated floors. We both love to garden. We have been married for 38 years and that in itself says a lot. We have owned 2 dogs during our marriage, as well as birds, bunnies and guinea pigs.I worked in our local school for over 20 years as an admin assistant and I am very organized. Before I had children I worked for a plant company taking care of plants in corporate offices and malls.

What can they bring to the assignment

We can bring overall peace of mind while you are away. My husband was a licensed plumber for 35 years so if any type of water emergency happens, he’s got it covered. We own a hot tub and know what it takes to maintain a pool. You can leave knowing your home will be well taken care of. If any maintenance issues arise, he can most likely fix it with your approval. Our daughter was recently married outside in an old settlement village with cabins throughout. He noticed that some of the tall walkway lights were not working. He was concerned about guests and the potential for falls. He notified the office and they could not be fixed in time. He asked for tools and a ladder to reach the lights. He ended up fixing the wiring of the entire row just hours before the wedding. We went back to our VRBO to shower and the shower head fell off. He fixed that as well. We are firm believers in karma and paying it forward so he did not charge the venue or the owner of the house. We can get bonded or provide personal references from neighbors and coworkers on request. You should know we have a 5 year old, 8 lb maltipoo that goes everywhere with us. She is well trained and gets along well with other animals and people. She is very mellow and loves walks, hikes and bike rides. My son lives in Colorado and has two big dogs .She loves to play with them and has no problem keeping up with them on hikes. She has probably been to more national parks than most people :) Our last house sit had two large dogs and they all got along marvelously. Your pets will get all the love, pets, belly rubs and walks they wish!
