Hi! We’re Michael (30) and Romy (28), an American-Dutch couple who recently left our careers in advertising and marketing to explore the world.

Seven years ago, we met by pure chance in Missouri while I (Romy) was on a solo U.S. trip. Fast forward: Michael moved to Amsterdam, and after five incredible years together, we’re ready for our next chapter—traveling, connecting, and giving back to the amazing communities we’re lucky enough to visit.

We are currently looking for a house sit in South East Asia or Oceania and other than that, we are not picky at all.

Why they want to house sit

We’re drawn to house sitting because we love to slow travel and immerse ourself in a culture. We love to experience the rhythm of daily life, get a sense of the local culture, and give the same care to a home that we would our own.

Their experience

Over the years, we have completed multiple house sits for friends and family in Amsterdam, caring for their homes, pets, and plants while they were away. More recently, we completed a six week housesit in Bali caring for one dog, and a three month housesit in Sri Lanka where we looked after two dogs who required medication and regular veterinarian visits. During these sits, we were also responsible for watering the garden, monitoring the pool, and keeping an eye on the house, especially with weather and salt conditions due to the close proximity to the ocean. Whether it’s cuddling with cats, walking dogs, or making sure everything runs smoothly at home, we enjoy it all.

What can they bring to the assignment

We are both responsible, tidy, and genuine animal lovers (so much that we are both vegetarians). We grew up with animals and have spent many years caring for cats and dogs, including dogs that needed daily medication and occasional veterinarian visits. We are comfortable following routines and making sure pets feel safe, loved, and well cared for while their owners are away.

We are also happy to help with the garden if needed. While we are not expert gardeners, we have experience with basic tasks like watering, weeding, mowing, and general upkeep.

We would love to look after your home and your furry friends while you are away.
