I’m Monica. I live and work in NYC (Inwood/Midtown). I am active and crave motion. I ride and run and strength train. When my body needs a rest, I read. Movement and meditation are my happy bookends. In between, I work as a stage manager for theatre. My job is busy and demanding. Animals have always been a beautiful balm. I love birds.
I would love to share a new space with an animal, or many. I’m looking to provide overnight (extended if possible) care to cats or birds or fish. I'll talk about anything else. I don't think I'm ready for dogs. No snakes.
I am rebuilding my life after a loss. After nearly 16 amazing years together, I recently said goodbye to my beloved dog Mayzie. I loved her fiercely. Life without her is very hard; the world without her is strange. We have/had a lovely home together, which I currently find impossible to inhabit. Every corner of my marvelous uptown neighborhood is infused with her memory. I hope someday I will find this beautiful, but right now I find it unbearable. I am heartbroken.
I always hated leaving Mayzie. I deeply understand how much it means to know that your beloved is being loved and that your sanctuary is safe. I have experienced how much more this allows you to enjoy your time away or focus on your task at hand.
I want to be a part of situations where everyone is benefitting (you, your pet, and me). That swirl of good energy and positivity feels affirming. Bonding with another animals feels rebuilding.
My life with Mayzie didn’t allow me to build extensive current experience with overnight pet care, but raising her made me an excellent, dedicated animal companion.
For 15 years she was my everything. I built my days around her, my home around her, my world around her. Caring for her was my entire experience. Mayzie always had a very specific meal plan and took many supplements, both of which I diligently and lovingly provided. As she aged, her needs for medication increased and I was scrupulous about administration.
(Many) years before Mayzie I frequently made extra income house/pet sitting. In college, I floated between my professors homes and animals. I took/take great pride in being trusted.
In recent years, I have been able to help neighbors in my building - watching cats (and snails) and monitoring our quirky NYC apartments. It is the best way I give to my community.
I have so much love for little creatures. I miss spoiling my girl.
I am honest, kind, and reliable. I am clean and quiet and organized. I follow directions very well. I listen. I am respectful and understand that home is a sanctuary.
I’m very sensitive to the routines of animals, to their needs and preferences and spirits. I pay attention.
My sensitivities extend to humans and spaces. I will communicate with you and much (or as little) as you desire. I have lived in NYC for 18 years and understand that your building and neighbors are integrated into your daily life. I can navigate those nuisances with grace.
