We met 18 years ago while volunteering in Chile. Rich is from England and Melissa is from the USA. During our 6 months together in Chile, Rich had shared that he wanted to homeschool his future kids and travel with them to teach them about the world, Melissa was on board with the plan.
We have traveled with our kids since they were young as Rich worked for an organization based in Uganda; we have additionally been to Iceland, Egypt, and various places throughout the USA.
While traveling, animals, meeting new people and learning about other customs and cultures, trying new foods and experiences and doing it all together are the highlights.
We have just started our worldschooling journey and are looking forward to slowly moving around and making the most of opportunities that come our way.
Sophie is 11 years old and loves reading, cooking, learning about history, and making crafts with nature. Sophie wants to be an Egyptologist.
Emma is 8 and loves all animals, playing outside, drawing, baking and Pokémon. Emma wants to work for NASA when she is older.
Melissa is a licensed clinical Social Worker and worked as a mental health therapist prior to choosing to stay home and raise the girls. In the last 11 years she has been a Girl Scout leader, soccer coach, Sunday school teacher and superintendent, played in a handball choir, and an active member in homeschool cooperatives. When the girls were young, Melissa began working on an organic vegetable farm and the girls would be there too. When the farm closed we built a large garden with 3 other families, growing food for our families.
Rich has a masters degree in Sustainable International Development. He has run programs and worked for organizations in Uganda and Haiti. Most recently he ran a furniture bank in Massachusetts, connecting people coming out of homelessness with the items needed to turn an empty space into a home.
We have owned a home in Marlborough, Massachusetts for 13 years. Before setting off to travel full-time, we put in a new kitchen and bathroom, and updated all of the rooms ourselves, the girls helped too. We love working together to complete projects, which has helped to develop a deep respect for caring for people's spaces.
We want to house and pet sit for others because we understand the importance of having your home and animals within it cared for in the same way you would. House and pet sitting also allows us to continue to travel on a small budget while feeding our love of animals.
Over the past seven months, we’ve completed eight house-sits and two WWOOFing placements, gaining hands-on experience across a variety of settings. Our work has included caring for horses, goats, pigs, sheep (including during lambing season), dogs, cats, and other animals. This range of experience has made us adaptable, dependable, and confident in managing the diverse needs of both homes and animals.
We bring a strong work ethic, reliability, and a genuine love for animals and rural living. With over seven months of hands-on experience across eight house-sits and two WWOOFing stays, we are confident in our ability to handle a wide range of responsibilities—including animal care (horses, livestock, pets), property upkeep, and garden or farm work. We’re respectful of the homes and communities we stay in, quick to learn routines, and committed to leaving each place better than we found it. You can count on us to care for your animals and property with the same attention we’d give our own

Wonderful
Melissa and Richard were wonderful! Their children were delightful and an absolute credit to them. They adored our dogs and took the best care of them. Our dogs were in such good form when we got home to them. They kept our house immaculate and looked after it so well. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting this lovely family. Do not hesitate to choose them as your next house sitters!

What a lovely family!
What a lovely family! At quite late notice Richard and family came to take care of our two doggies, no fuss, they just came and did a wonderful job. Ruby and DeeDee were very happy and relaxed when we got home and the house was left perfect. We would recommend them wholeheartedly.

We cannot thank Richard and Melissa enough
We cannot thank Richard and Melissa enough for their incredible care of my four pugs and cat while i was away! From the moment we met them and their two sweet, responsible daughters, i knew our fur babies would be in the best hands. Their genuine love for animals shone through instantly. Not only did they handle the chaos of four energetic pugs with patience and joy, but they also gave our cat the gentle attention he craves. The girls were equally amazing helping with walks, playtime, and even making sure everyone got their favorite treats. It felt like our pets were welcomed into a second home filled with warmth and laughter. I received daily updates and adorable photos, which gave me total peace of mind. It’s clear Richard and Melissa go above and beyond to ensure pets feel safe, loved, and entertained. When i returned, the pugs were happily exhausted from all the fun, and our pous pous was purring contentedly proof of the outstanding care they received. If you’re looking for a trustworthy, compassionate, and fun family to care for your pets, look no further. I am beyond grateful and will absolutely book them again! Thank you, Richard, Melissa, and girls you’re simply the best! 🐾💖

Amazing family
Amazing family, our pets and home were in the best hands. I think we hit the jackpot on our first ever time using house sitters. Our home was left better than we left it, came home to home made fresh bread, cupcakes and seeing how well our home and animals had been looked after. We are thrilled that you and your lovely young girls enjoyed our home to. We highly recommend Richard and Melissa as 5*+ house sitters and we wish them lots of luck with their future plans. Come and see us some time, you are always welcome
