About this sitter

Greetings to all from the Sikkim Himalayas!

I am a retd Lt Col from the Garhwal Rifles (erstwhile Royal Garhwal Rifles, British India Army)
After retiring, I have spent 15 years (living/working) in Eurasia & Europe - Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Austria - for a top global MNC with Corporate HQs in London and Luxembourg in the Management cadre. (Fluent English. Used to speak basic German, Russian, Romanian, but now half forgotten.)

Hobbies: Parachuting*, mountaineering*, (*whilst in the Army) flying, photography (high altitude alpine flora and butterflies), gardening, music, chess and bridge. Appreciate European art and architecture.

Nature & animal lover. Used to rear endangered animals and exotic birds at one time - in the open, not in cages. (Black Bucks, Tibetan Mastiff, Tibetan Snow Cocks, Paradise Flycatchers, Golden Eagle, Azure Magpies.)

Non smoker & non drinker. No drugs and no criminal record. Neat and clean, 'everything in its place, can't stand a mess’ by habit and nature.
Sincere, honest, conscientious, dutiful. Invariably keep my word.

Why they want to house sit

Why house sit? Wanderlust. I appreciate European culture in its variety. House sitting will permit me to understand, imbibe and partake of different cultures in a cost effective manner. Equally, the house owner can be assured his house and pets and assets are properly and sincerely looked after in his/her absence - also in a very cost effective manner.
Happy to look after a house and garden - if there is one with a view to partake of local culture and cuisine.
Owner can rest assured he/she gets back the house in the same condition as given to me. Treat other peoples' homes as should be - more carefully than my own!

Their experience

No experience sitting private houses but plenty administering punctilious Rifle Regt Officers’ Messes and barracks, and own home!

What can they bring to the assignment

Sincere, honest, conscientious, dutiful. Invariably keep my word.
Ability to follow instructions you may wish to give. (Old Army habit!)

Owner can rest assured he/she gets back the house in the same condition as given to me. Treat other peoples' homes as should be - more carefully than my own!
Whilst sitting your house, I do not imagine myself touching or using anything belonging to you - other than what is absolutely necessary or specifically offered by you to use.
I have reared wild animals as pets, commanded men, ensured property of Govt including armament is properly maintained as per regulations.
My work experience and personal life situations do not in any manner preclude me from sitting a house efficiently.
