About this sitter
We are a retired military couple in our mid to late 50s. We are friendly, highly adaptable, responsible, and have a positive outlook on life. We have traveled extensively all over the world and are not particular about the setting, pace, responsibilities or accomodations of a house sit. We view house sitting much more about helping others rather than what's in it for us. We are far more interested in having a unique experience while helping fill a need, and getting to see things we may not have thought of doing. We love animals, gardening, and DIY projects. We are great communicators and will do what we say we'll do - you can count on us!
Why they want to house sit
We consider ourselves to be adventurers and travelers, rather than tourists, and feel that house sitting is a wonderful way to immerse ourselves in a new place, while helping others. We enjoy experiencing other lifestyles and cultures and see no better way to do this than to live like a local. We have had every animal there is over the years and want people to know they can count on us to care for their pets with experience, kindness and love.
Their experience
We have completed 27 house sits in the past 6 years, most by word of mouth, not mindmyhouse.com, but it is how we got started with our first sit in 2019. We moved over 19 times in our military career and with that we gained handyman, DIY, and house mechanics skills which are always helpful on house/pet sits. We owned a small farm with a large garden, greenhouse, orchard and 20 chickens. We have dearly loved many animals through the years including ducks, chickens, and several cats and dogs. We have owned, renovated, repaired, and maintained over 15 homes. We have been actively house sitting since 2019 and have done everything from a weekend in New Orleans to over 4 months in Scotland. We are highly experienced home owners, animal caretakers, and problem solvers. Our attention to detail and reliability are what other home owners like most about us.

We are conscientious, clean, and will treat your home with care and respect. We are non-smokers and non-drug users. We make your house and pet sitting the priority! We are self-sufficient, detail-oriented, resourceful and possess a high work ethic. We enjoy animals and have years of experience in animal husbandry and will treat your animals with great care and love. We are physically fit and not afraid of hard work. We are comfortable around others, but also enjoy solitude. We take care of homes like they are ours and try to leave them in even better condition. We keep you updated at whatever level you desire and will go above and beyond to make sure you are able to enjoy your time away from home.

Truly Amazing ! We are so grateful for these two !
Rustan and Kim were absolutely amazing house and dog sitters. They cared for our home and four dogs for two full months, delivering top-tier service from start to finish. They kindly dropped us off at the airport when we left and picked us up on our return. Two weeks into the sit they had an emergency back home. They handled it seamlessly without ever letting us down. They took excellent care of our truck and also ran our second car once a week. Any small extras that came up were looked after without hesitation, and they dealt with power outages like pros. Rustan and Kim are great communicators and easy to deal with. They sent us photos of the dogs along with a weekly report. We had just rescued a two month old pup (which they were not expecting). They not only house-trained her, but spent countless hours working with her on walks and training. All four dogs stayed healthy and happy the entire time - so much so that I wasn't sure they'd welcome us back. All four were ecstatic to see us, thank goodness! The house was left super clean and my extensive gardens all looked great. We would love to have Rustan and Kim back every year, but sadly I am afraid yet another great review for them will make then even more popular. Zero negatives - highly recommended ! Great people !
