About this sitter
We are Ron and Susi Gauld and have retired from running a 5* B&B in Italy for 20years so we know how to keep a home and garden spotless. In our previous lives Ron was an architect with his own practices in Aberdeen and Susi was a head teacher in a large primary school on the outskirts of Aberdeen. We both very well and fit non smokers with no allergies or dietary requirements. Ron is 74 and Susi 73.
We are always looking for interesting places with any kind of animal to look after.
Why they want to house sit
As we cannot have animals at the B&B we really enjoy the company and looking after others pets.
We both enjoy experiencing other people’s lives, getting involved in their communities, experiencing what life is like in their area, not just the tourist experiences.

Ron and Susi are the epitome of what it is to be five star dog/ house sitters. Before , during and after the sit their communication was extraordinary. We were were even fortunate to meet up with them again a few days after our return from NZ to further thank them for the love and care they showed towards our girls , our home and to us! We received daily photographs of the girls who looked gloriously content on each shit which was down to the fact that they were being so well looked after. They had been clearly brushed each day and looked even healthier on our return. Ron and Susi also went the extra mile in taking care of our home. Never have we returned to our home and found it as clean if not cleaner then how we left it . They also planned some extra little personal touches for our return home much we will never forget. The sit aside, Ron and Susi are genuinely inspiration people and travellers from whom we learnt a great deal and are incorporating many of their ideas in our future travels. It was an immense privilege that they were able to give their time to our girls and look after our home so well. Egypt can be a challenging experience for even the most discerning of travellers but they threw themselves into this experience with great gusto and made great use of our bicycles, despite the heat , and of course the magnificent Red Sea, throughout the stay. We already miss them and think of them fondly and will surely keep in touch always. If this couple apply for your dog sit- snap them up immediately. A seven star couple in EVERY respect!

Suzi and Ron were absolutely wonderful
Suzi and Ron were absolutely wonderful. They were kind, caring, and really made the extra effort to ensure that our pets were happy. The house was left in beautiful condition, and they even left some baked goodies for us. I highly recommend them.

A delightful and well-travelled couple
We had arranged to meet Ron and Susi in advance of the pet sit for a walk and lunch and immediately it was clear that they would be totally reliable and caring sitters. On arrival at the house they were greeted by Kelpie with her favourite toy and she was put at ease as we packed our cases! Ron and Susi, who are clearly experienced pet sitters and animal lovers, quickly understood Kelpie’s daily routine. While we were away Susi kept in touch as and when required but we had complete confidence that they would look after Kelpie as if she was their pet. On our return Kelpie was clearly happy and fit, having been regularly exercised, fed and given loving attention. There was an obvious bond which had been formed in 12 days. The house was clean, tidy and organised and they had very thoughtfully prepared food for all of us on our return after a long day’s travel. We would have no hesitation either in recommending Ron and Susi, who are a delightful and well-travelled couple, or asking them to return to our home should they be interested.

Two of the most wonderful pet and home sitters we've ever had
Susi and Ron are not only two of the most wonderful pet and home sitters we've ever had, they are simply two of the kindest people we've ever met. This review is actually for 15th September - 6th October 2023 (we missed our review window date). They arrived mid-day on the evening of our departure. We had the chance to have dinner together and learn more about each other-- their lives and travels along with ours. Our two cats also immediately felt comfortable with them. While we were away, they sent us daily updates about how the cats were doing and about their stay in Jerusalem. Their openness, curiosity, care, and consideration shines through. The day we landed, they prepared dinner for us and we exchanged travel stories. Our apartment was clean and in amazing shape and the cats were happy and healthy. They owned and ran a bed & breakfast in Italy for 15+ years, and that's how they treated our home! We are grateful to have Ron and Susi into our lives and we would host them or have them again any time.
